  • Microsoft Copilot: The second tool accountants mention most on forums; in the free Copilot chat you can ask about Excel formulas, pivot tables and macro steps, with a Turkish interface and payment in local currency available. First step: Instead of a real table, give Copilot the column names and a 3-row made-up example and ask for the formula; run the formula in your own file and check the result by hand.
  • Claude: It can calculate on an uploaded CSV/Excel file and produce a result table and file; strong at summarizing long legislation texts. First step: Turn off the model training option in Settings > Privacy; do your first test with a fictional invoice list and verify the totals yourself.
  • ChatGPT: With unlimited text chat on the free plan, it drafts explanatory letters, emails and checklists to send to clients. First step: In Settings > Data controls, turn off "Improve the model for everyone"; verify tax rates and deadlines every time against GİB (the Turkish Revenue Administration) and the legislation.
  • Gemini: Free with a Google account; formula and table help for firms using Google Sheets, and scanning for legislative changes with Deep Research. First step: Turn off Gemini Apps Activity; follow Google's warning and don't paste client data into a free chat.

First payment: Copilot in Excel

  • Microsoft Copilot: Copilot inside Excel, the main tool of accounting; paid in local currency from Turkey, with a 1-month trial. First step: During the trial month, work only with fictional or anonymized tables and note which tasks (formulas, summaries, charts) really save you time; if they don't, cancel.

As you grow: bookkeeping that reads receipts

  • Paraşüt: AI receipt entry, a reporting assistant and a support assistant inside a Turkish bookkeeping and e-invoice program; its terms of use state that data won't be used for model training. First step: During the 14-day trial, try AI receipt entry with fictional or your own receipts and check the amount, VAT rate and date it reads one by one; read Article 6 of the terms of use (transfer to LLM providers).

The same task in Turkish

The following invoices are entirely fictional (September 2026; amounts are the VAT-exclusive tax base). Sales invoices: S1 Company A, 50,000 lira, VAT 20%; S2 Company B, 12,000 lira, VAT 10%; S3 Company C, 8,500 lira, VAT 20%. Purchase invoices: A1 Supplier X, 20,000 lira, VAT 20%; A2 Supplier Y, 4,000 lira, VAT 10%; A3 Supplier Z, 3,000 lira, VAT 1%. Deliverables: (1) a table of tax base and VAT by rate for sales and purchases; (2) total output VAT, total deductible input VAT and the difference between them (VAT payable or carried forward); (3) state that this calculation doesn't replace a tax return, and list 3 points to check before filing. Show the calculation steps.

What a good answer should include: A successful output: (1) sales at 20%: tax base 58,500 lira / VAT 11,700 lira; sales at 10%: tax base 12,000 lira / VAT 1,200 lira; (2) output VAT 12,900 lira; (3) purchase VAT at 20%: 4,000 lira, at 10%: 400 lira, at 1%: 30 lira, deductible VAT 4,430 lira; (4) VAT payable 8,470 lira (nothing carried forward); (5) total sales tax base 70,500 lira, purchase tax base 27,000 lira; (6) the table is legible and the steps are shown; (7) it states that the output isn't a tax return and gives checkpoints (e.g. document dates, conditions for the right to deduct, VAT carried forward from the previous period); a single number error is a failure.

  • ChatGPT · met the criterion (ChatGPT Plus (paid plan), thinking: Medium · October 8, 2026)
All numbers correct: sales at 20% tax base 58,500 / VAT 11,700, at 10% 12,000 / 1,200, output VAT 12,900; purchase VAT 4,000 + 400 + 30 = 4,430; payable 8,470 lira; tax base totals 70,500 and 27,000. Two tables, by invoice and by rate, with steps shown. It states that it doesn't replace a tax return; checkpoints are the document period, the conditions for the right to deduct and VAT carried forward from the previous period.
  • Claude · met the criterion (Claude Max (paid plan), model: Opus 5.5 · October 9, 2026)
All numbers correct: sales at 20% tax base 58,500 / VAT 11,700, at 10% tax base 12,000 / VAT 1,200, output VAT 12,900; purchase VAT 4,000 + 400 + 30 = 4,430; payable 8,470 lira, nothing carried forward; tax base totals 70,500 and 27,000. Tables are legible, with steps and a per-invoice cross-check shown. It stated that it doesn't replace a tax return; checkpoints are VAT carried forward from the previous period, the conditions for the right to deduct (recording, deadline, restricted expenses) and invoice accuracy (e-invoice matching, returns, withholding, rates).
