Details: why these tools, the same Turkish-language task trial, sources

Start free

  • Gemini Notebook (formerly NotebookLM): Upload your own lecture notes, PDFs and slides and it produces summaries, quizzes, flashcards and audio overviews based only on them; it shows which source each answer comes from. First step: Open a separate notebook for each course, upload only that course's notes and say "make a 10-question quiz from these notes"; check answers by clicking the source markers.
  • Gemini: The free plan includes Deep Research, Canvas and Gemini Live; in Turkey, university students get Google AI Plus free for 1 year, and Live lets you practice speaking English. First step: If you're at university, activate the student plan at gemini.google/students; set a calendar reminder, because the monthly Plus price will be charged when the offer ends.
  • ChatGPT: The tool mentioned most for homework on Turkish forums; the free plan has unlimited text chat. First step: Don't have it answer homework questions directly; say "explain it step by step and let me find the answer"; turn off the use of your chats for training in Settings > Data controls.
  • Perplexity: Gives a source link under every answer; useful for finding where to start on a research assignment. First step: Open the source of every citation in the answer and find the sentence in it; don't put anything you can't find into your assignment.
  • Gamma: Turns an outline into a draft presentation and exports to PPTX and Google Slides; the tool mentioned most for presentations on Turkish forums. First step: Write the outline of the presentation yourself first, then tell Gamma "8 slides from this outline"; the free 400 credits are given only once, so don't waste them on experiments.
  • Notion: For lecture notes, assignment calendars and project pages; the Education plan is free with a school email (unlimited file uploads, 30 days of page history). First step: Make your school email the primary email of your Notion account, then switch to the Education plan on desktop or the web (it doesn't work from mobile).
  • GitHub Copilot: Code completion and chat inside the editor for coding assignments and projects; Copilot Student is free for students verified through GitHub Education. First step: Complete student verification on GitHub Education and activate Copilot Student at github.com/settings/education/benefits; first check whether your assignment's rules allow AI.

First payment

  • Gemini: Twice the usage limit of the free plan and video generation; your per-course study notebooks and quizzes stay in the same account. First step: Buy it monthly and cancel when exam season ends.
  • Gemini Notebook (formerly NotebookLM): With Plus, the source limit per notebook goes up from 50 to 100; all your lecture notes for the term fit in one notebook. First step: After subscribing, check for the higher-plan badge next to your profile picture, then upload all the weekly notes for your biggest course into the same notebook.

As you grow

  • Gemini: Google AI Pro gives 4 times the usage limit of the free plan; for long literature reviews and Deep Research reports. First step: Upgrade from Plus, and go back down to Plus when your thesis period is over.
  • Claude: Strong at editing long texts, giving section-by-section feedback and on coding projects; the Pro plan unlocks Research. First step: First have it edit one chapter on the free plan; if that's not enough, move to Pro and check the model improvement permission in the privacy settings.

The same task in Turkish

I'm an 11th-grade high school biology student. Explain "the light-dependent and light-independent reactions of photosynthesis" in no more than 150 words. Then make a 5-question multiple-choice quiz on this topic; each question should have exactly one correct answer, and give the answer key separately at the end of the quiz. Finally, suggest 3 Turkish-language sources I can study this topic from; for any source whose name and address you don't know or aren't sure of, write "I'm not sure" — don't make up sources.

What a good answer should include: The explanation is no longer than 150 words and correct (light-dependent reactions take place in the thylakoid membrane, produce ATP and NADPH, split water and release O2; the Calvin cycle fixes CO2 in the stroma); each of the 5 questions has exactly one correct option and the answer key is separate; the suggested sources really exist (the address opens) or the tool clearly says it isn't sure; an invented book, article or link counts as a failure.

  • ChatGPT · partly (ChatGPT Plus (paid plan), thinking: Medium · October 8, 2026)
The explanation is under 150 words and correct (thylakoid membrane, photolysis, O2, ATP and NADPH; the Calvin cycle fixes CO2 in the stroma). The 5 questions each have one correct option; the answer key is separate, behind a 'Show' button. It found sources by web search: the MEB OGM (Turkish Ministry of National Education, secondary education directorate) workbook and the TÜBİTAK Bilim Genç article open; the third link (an OGM interactive activity) returned 404 when checked. It didn't write 'I'm not sure'.
  • Gemini · met the criterion (Google AI Pro (paid plan), model: Flash (default); the answer came as a Canvas document · October 9, 2026)
The explanation is 101 words and correct (thylakoid membrane, photolysis, O2, ATP and NADPH; Calvin cycle in the stroma, Rubisco, PGAL). The 5 questions each have one correct option and are at 11th-grade level; the answer key with solutions is separate. The sources are real and open (OGM Materyal, EBA — Turkey's national education platform, Khan Academy Turkish), but all are homepage addresses, not topic-specific pages. It didn't write 'I'm not sure'.
  • Perplexity · met the criterion (Perplexity free, without signing in (default search mode) · October 9, 2026)
The explanation is 94 words and correct (thylakoid membrane, photolysis, O2, ATP and NADPH; the Calvin cycle uses CO2 in the stroma); each of the 5 questions has exactly one correct option, and the answer key is separate. All three sources are real and open: the OGM Materyal homepage, a TÜBİTAK Bilim ve Teknik article on photosynthesis, and a Khan Academy Turkish video on photosynthesis (opened in the browser, title matches). For OGM only the homepage address was given, no section link. Run without signing in, since no account was used.
