Can I Do It Myself?

Summarizing customer data without sending it to the cloud

You'll find it hardDoable, but it takes setup, integrations or trial and error.

Summarize quotes, complaints or form entries with a model running on your own computer; the data never leaves it.

Estimated time: About 1–2 hours to set up (for a first-timer, an estimate)

Steps

  1. 1

    Check your hardware

Check the memory and processor requirements on the tool's page.

  2. 2

Install the tool and download a small model

LM Studio works without code; Ollama starts with a single command.

  3. 3

    Try it with sample data

First check the results on a few records with no personal data.

  4. 4

    Keep cloud mode off

Some tools have an optional cloud mode; stay on the local model so data isn't sent out.

Risks and things to watch

The usable model size and speed depend on your computer's memory (LM Studio recommends 16 GB or more). Even when the data stays on the computer, the computer itself must be protected.

Tools you need

Picking one is enough; the cards show how they differ.
