What Is Brag? Installation, Cost, How It Differs from the Paid letsbrag.app, and Music Licensing
You type /brag in your project; Brag reads the code and prepares a 15-25 second promo video, music and share text, and writes the output to the brag-output folder inside the project. It's a free, open-source (MIT) agent skill and Claude Code plugin; it requires no account, API key or paid service, and the cost comes out of the tokens of your own Claude or Codex subscription. The same maker also has a separate, paid service that makes the video for you when you paste in your site's address (letsbrag.app); the skill is independent of it.

What Is Brag Used For?
A skill is a package of instructions that teaches an agent how to work on something. Brag brings two skills: /brag runs the full flow, reading the project, writing a plan, building the video with HeyGen's open-source HyperFrames tool and delivering it; /brag-slim is the lean version that doesn't use the bundled music or HyperFrames, and it can take a project folder or a web address. The output is the brag.mp4, brag.jpg and share-copy.txt files.
On the Opus 5.5 model, /brag automatically switches to the lean version; it doesn't if you add --full or --voice.
!Anything the agent reads can end up in a video that will be shared publicly. The skill explicitly asks the agent not to carry secrets, API keys or personal data into the plan or the video and to replace them with fake examples; still, if the project contains sensitive data, watch the video before sharing it.
How Do You Install Brag?
The full version requires Node.js 22+ and FFmpeg. The commands are taken verbatim from the README.
› /plugin marketplace add latent-spaces/brag› /plugin install brag@bragThen type /brag in any project folder. The plugin also brings the /brag-slim command. To update: claude plugin update brag.
› codex plugin marketplace add latent-spaces/brag› codex plugin add brag@brag› npx skills add https://github.com/latent-spaces/brag --skill bragFor the lean version only, end it with --skill brag-slim. Adding -g installs it globally, for every project.
On Windows, the README asks for git config core.symlinks true and Developer Mode or admin rights for symbolic links; if that doesn't work, copy the skills/brag folder manually. The README doesn't mention the claude.ai chat at all; since the skill runs commands (npx, FFmpeg), you need an agent environment that runs code.
How Do You Use Brag?
Open the agent in the project folder and type the command. The agent reads the project, writes a plan and builds the video. By the author's own estimate (lean version, 13 runs on websites), a video takes about 135 thousand tokens and about 10 minutes; this is the maker's own measurement.
Voiceover (--voice) is off by default and uses the local Kokoro model; the code shows about 311 MB of model and 27 MB of voice data downloaded from a GitHub release file. Turkish isn't in Kokoro's language list.
Which Agents Does Brag Work With?
| Claude CodeYes | Plugin marketplace or manual copy. |
|---|---|
| Codex (CLI)Yes | The README gives separate Codex commands. |
| Cursor, Copilot, Gemini CLI, opencodeYes | The README lists them on the skills CLI line. |
| claude.ai chatUnclear | The README doesn't mention it; presumably it needs an agent environment that runs commands. |
What Does Brag Access?
The code and content in the project folder you're working in (index.html, styles, README, route and component files). The skill asks the agent to skip build output, lock files, tests, .git, .env and key files.
A brag-output folder inside the project (plan, composition, brag.mp4, brag.jpg, share-copy.txt). For the video, the agent downloads and runs the hyperframes package with npx and uses ffmpeg.
There's no deletion step in the docs.
The skill itself doesn't send data; but the model reading your code goes to your AI provider. The repository has no hooks, MCP or scripts that make network calls.
The 5 bundled music tracks come from ende.app. The music README in the repository says "verify and document the music license terms before redistributing"; in other words, the license isn't written in the repository. Sound effects are Kenney CC0. GitHub Security Advisories is empty and there's no SECURITY.md; no recorded advisory appears. This doesn't mean "safe." HyperFrames is Apache-2.0 and runs via unpinned npx.
Is Brag Free? How Does It Differ from letsbrag.app?
The skill (/brag and /brag-slim) is free and MIT-licensed. The cost is the tokens of the Claude or Codex subscription you use. The only paid thing is the maker's separate service, letsbrag.app: you paste in your site, no account needed, and a video of about 20 seconds is made for you.
- MIT license
- Uses your own subscription's tokens
- No paid service
- Launch price, then $29
- Payment through Creem
- Automatic refund if no video is produced
!The letsbrag.app privacy policy says the pages, screenshots and working files of uploaded sites may be used to train AI models, and refers to the opt-out right in the terms of service. This applies only to the paid service, not to the skill.
Price from the letsbrag.app page, in dollars; no lira pricing. This isn't financial advice.
Common Problems and Fixes
| What's happening | What to do |
|---|---|
| Reported by users hyperframes check says it passed, but the contrast check counted 0 text elements (Tailwind v4 / shadcn projects with oklch colors) | Open issue (#50), no response from the maker. If the contrast count in the output is 0, the check was skipped; convert the colors to hex or rgb and run it again. |
| Symbolic links don't work on Windows | git config core.symlinks true and Developer Mode; if that doesn't work, copy the folder manually. |
| Error at the poster step in zsh | Issue #46 is closed and the fix is in the repository; update the plugin. |
How Do You Remove Brag?
- If it's a plugin: Remove it from Claude Code's plugin menu or with
/plugin uninstall brag@brag(this is a general Claude Code command; it isn't in the brag docs). - If you copied it manually: Delete the
~/.claude/skills/bragfolder. - Output: Delete the brag-output folder in the project manually.
Frequently asked questions
Is Brag free?
The skill is free and MIT-licensed; it requires no account or API key, and the cost is your own subscription's tokens. What's paid is the maker's separate service, letsbrag.app ($19 launch price, then $29).
How does Brag produce the video?
The full version builds the video with HeyGen's open-source HyperFrames tool (npx hyperframes) and requires Node.js 22 and FFmpeg. The lean version doesn't use HyperFrames; the model builds the video itself.
Is the bundled music suitable for commercial use?
Unclear: the music document in the repository says the license terms haven't been verified and documented yet. Music is only in the full version; the lean version has no bundled music. Before publishing, check the terms of the source (ende.app).
Does it do voiceover in Turkish?
Voiceover is off by default and uses the local Kokoro model; in the code, Turkish doesn't appear in Kokoro's language list.
Will sensitive information in my project end up in the video?
The skill asks the agent not to carry secrets, keys and personal data into the video, but anything it reads can end up in the video; watch the video before sharing it.
Does letsbrag.app use the site I upload for training?
The privacy policy says pages, screenshots and working files may be used to train AI models, and refers to the opt-out right in the terms of service. This applies only to the paid service.
