What Is LinkedIn Agent Skill? Writing LinkedIn Posts with Claude, Installation, Cost and LinkedIn Rules

You ask Claude for a LinkedIn post, comment, comment reply, DM, carousel, weekly plan or profile score; LinkedIn Agent Skill writes the draft, and you copy and paste it. It is a free, MIT-licensed collection of 11 skills published on GitHub by an independent developer (Jake Schincariol); it is not a LinkedIn or Anthropic product. It doesn't connect to your LinkedIn account or ask for keys; according to the README, it never posts anything itself. The skills are in English. You install it in Claude Code by copying files or through the plugin marketplace.

What is LinkedIn Agent Skill for?

A skill is an instruction file that teaches Claude how to do a job. This collection is for LinkedIn: it turns a raw idea into a post, writes comments on other people's posts, sorts incoming messages and scores your profile. Everything is a draft; you read it, fix it and paste it into LinkedIn yourself.

Here's how it works: first you put writing samples into the voice.md file (the README says to do this first, otherwise the output sounds "like everyone else's"). Then you give it an idea; /li-post offers three opening-line options and one full draft, and if you say "yes" it records the post in the log file. Nothing is posted.

The README's first sentence can read like "it manages your LinkedIn account", but further down it clearly says nothing is posted automatically. It doesn't manage your account; it only writes.

What's inside? Which one do you need?

CommandWhat it does
/li-postTurns a single idea into a post: three options from 21 opening formulas and one full draft
/li-commentWrites comments on other people's posts (nine comment types)
/li-replySorts the comments under your own post and writes replies
/li-profileScores the profile out of 100 with a 12-part rubric and rewrites the low-scoring parts
/li-planWeekly plan: what to post when and who to engage with; writes it to plan.md
/li-humanTwo Python scripts that clean and score AI traces
/li-carouselText for a carousel (swipeable document post) and HTML for the PDF
/li-repurposeSplits a video, newsletter or transcript into a week of posts
/li-dm200-character connection note, first message and two follow-ups
/li-inboxSorts the inbox into prospect/recruiter/peer/request/spam
/li-auditReviews your published posts by engagement rate

You don't have to install all of them; you can copy folders one by one. But according to the README, li-post, li-comment, li-reply and li-dm run their output through li-human; if you don't copy li-human too, this step is skipped.

li-human cleans traces of AI writing (invisible characters, stock words) and scores the text with a local rubric. The README says it doesn't promise the verdict of real detectors like GPTZero. If your school, employer or a platform has a rule on AI use, following it is up to you. In one user issue (issue #2), a Claude session refused the installation for exactly this reason Reported by users.

How do you install LinkedIn Agent Skill?

The commands are taken verbatim from the README. Both routes require Claude Code on your own computer; the skill files go into the ~/.claude/skills/ folder.

Download the repo and copy› git clone https://github.com/Jakeschincariol/linkedin-agent-skill.git cp -r linkedin-agent-skill/skills/li-* ~/.claude/skills/

If you want to use it in one project only, copy the same folders into that repository's .claude/skills/ folder.

After installing, copy templates/voice.md to ~/.claude/linkedin/voice.md and fill it in, or paste three of your posts into Claude and say "write voice.md from these" (the README says it takes ten minutes).

The repository documentation doesn't describe how to remove the plugin after installing it; use Claude Code's /plugin menu. Python 3 is needed only for the li-human scripts and requires no extra packages.

How do you use LinkedIn Agent Skill?

You type the command and describe your idea. The text goes nowhere without your approval; if you say "yes", it is only recorded in the local log file.

Post draft"/li-post 60% of my clients didn't come back after the first meeting; when I cut the proposal down to one page, the return rate went up. Turn this into a LinkedIn post; I'll provide the numbers, don't make any up."
Comment reply"/li-reply These comments came in under my post: [paste the comments]. Tell me which ones are worth replying to, in order."

According to the README, the skill doesn't invent numbers it doesn't have; it leaves {{your number}} in their place and warns you. Provide your real number yourself.

The skills are written in English. You can ask for a Turkish post, but the official sources don't state the quality on Turkish text or whether the cleanup word list (113 English terms) works for it.

What does LinkedIn Agent Skill access, and where does data go?

Reads

Locally, ~/.claude/linkedin/voice.md and log.md (if present), plus the post, comment, DM and profile text you paste. When pasting messages written by others, be careful with content that may count as personal data.

Writes

~/.claude/linkedin/log.md (after you say "yes"), plan.md (li-plan) and HTML/PDF for carousels (after you approve the text).

Deletes

It deletes nothing.

Outbound

The two Python scripts contain no network code (standard library; they run locally). But the text you paste and voice.md go to the Claude you use, like with any skill.

The plugin definition has no hooks or MCP servers. skills/li-post/hooks.json is not a Claude Code hook but the data file for the 21 post-opening formulas. No advisories are listed in GitHub Security Advisories, GitHub's global advisories or OSV (October 15, 2026); since the repository isn't a published package, the OSV result has limited value. This doesn't mean "safe"; there is no SECURITY.md.

Is LinkedIn Agent Skill free? License, version, maintenance

Yes. The README says "free, MIT, no signup, no API key"; the LICENSE file in the repository is also MIT. The real cost is the Claude Code/Claude plan you run the skills on, which is separate.

LinkedIn rules and the risk of automatic posting

This collection doesn't connect to LinkedIn: no API key, login or browser automation. According to the README, this is a deliberate design; the skill files also tell the agent not to post comments with a browser tool, not to read the inbox through a browser and not to scrape the feed.

The risk of automatic posting starts with you: if Claude also has a browser tool, a social media MCP or a posting automation connected, that tool may do the job when you say "post this". The skill forbids it, but if you don't set the rule, another tool may take over. Posting manually is safest.

LinkedIn User Agreement

Prohibits scraping data from LinkedIn with scripts, bots and extensions (effective November 3, 2025).

LinkedIn help page

"Prohibited software and extensions": it says third-party software that automates activity on LinkedIn is not allowed.

What the repository says

It warns that bulk automated posts, comments and DMs can get your account restricted, and that's why it asks you to paste everything manually.

This is not legal advice; LinkedIn's terms may change, so check the current text on LinkedIn. Drafting is one thing, automatic posting is another; this collection only does the first.

Common problems

What happensWhat to do
Claude says "I won't install this skill" (issue #2)The reason is li-human's detector setting. The post-writing skills are independent of it; try the manual copy route. Reported by users
It won't install from the chat (issue #5)The skill folder lives on your own computer; copy it manually or use Claude Code. Reported by users
The "put the link in the first comment" advice doesn't work (issue #11)Reported by one user. Decide for yourself where to put the link. Reported by users
The profile score comes out low for a job seeker's profile (issue #12)The rubric assumes a profile that sells services; read the score with that in mind. Reported by users

How do you uninstall LinkedIn Agent Skill?

  1. If you copied it manually: Delete the li-* folders under ~/.claude/skills/.
  2. If you installed it as a plugin: Remove it from Claude Code's /plugin menu.
  3. Your files remain: voice.md, log.md and plan.md in ~/.claude/linkedin/ are not deleted automatically; delete them yourself if you want.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a skill that writes LinkedIn posts with Claude, and does it post to LinkedIn itself?

Yes, this collection drafts posts, comments, DMs and carousels. It doesn't post itself: the README says every skill ends with a text block to copy, you do the posting, and it doesn't connect to LinkedIn. If you connect another posting tool to Claude, that tool could act; keep it under your own control.

How do you install LinkedIn Agent Skill in Claude Code?

Two ways: download the repository and copy it with cp -r linkedin-agent-skill/skills/li-* ~/.claude/skills/, or run /plugin marketplace add Jakeschincariol/linkedin-agent-skill and /plugin install linkedin-agent in Claude Code. Then fill in the voice.md file.

Which is the LinkedIn Agent Skill GitHub repository, and what's the license?

github.com/Jakeschincariol/linkedin-agent-skill. The maker is Jake Schincariol; it is not a LinkedIn or Anthropic product. The license is MIT, with no tagged release (plugin.json 1.0.0).

Does Claude connect to my LinkedIn account? Is there a connector or MCP?

Not in this collection. It asks for no account, API key or MCP server; it works only with the text you paste. This is a deliberate design to comply with LinkedIn's rules. Other tools that connect to LinkedIn are not covered on this page.

What is LinkedIn Agent Skill, and what's inside?

11 skills: post, comment, comment reply, profile score, weekly plan, carousel, repurposing, DM, inbox, audit, and li-human, which cleans AI traces. Free, MIT. The skills are in English.

Can Claude score my LinkedIn profile?

Yes: /li-profile scores the profile text out of 100 with a 12-part rubric and rewrites where points were lost. You paste the profile. The rubric assumes a profile that sells services; for a job seeker's profile the scores can be misleading (issue #12).
