What Is Claude? Free Plan, Pro Pricing, Cowork, Claude Code and Turkish Support
You ask Claude questions by typing, or upload a document or photo; it reads and summarizes long documents, writes, searches the web, and prepares Excel, Word, PowerPoint and PDF files. Most of this is on the Free plan. Cowork, where you hand over a task and get the result when it's done, the Claude Code coding tool and the Chrome/Excel add-ins are on paid plans. Write in Turkish and it replies in Turkish; since October 2026 the interface can be set to Turkish too.

What Is Claude Used For?
Claude is especially strong at working with long text, documents and files. You can upload a report and have it summarized, have it write a proposal or an email, or have it prepare an Excel spreadsheet or a presentation. On paid plans you can hand over a task from start to finish (Cowork) or have it work in a code project (Claude Code) and get the result.
It doesn't generate photos or videos. But it draws charts and flowcharts inside its answers, and prepares presentations and single-page website designs.
Who it's for: anyone who works a lot with text, documents and spreadsheets: consultants, teachers, lawyers, accountants, content creators, small business owners. For people who write code there's also Claude Code.
How Do You Download Claude and Create an Account?
You can use Claude in the browser without installing anything. The desktop and phone apps work with the same account, and your chats are the same everywhere.
- Go to claude.ai and choose "Continue with Google" or "Continue with email." Email sign-in has no password; you click the sign-in link sent to your inbox.
- Verify your phone number. This step can't be skipped. You need a mobile number that can receive SMS; virtual (VoIP) numbers and landlines aren't accepted. One number can be used for at most 3 accounts and can't be changed later.
- You must be over 18. That's the minimum age in the Terms of Use.
- Sometimes ID or age verification may be required. Some features ask for an ID and a selfie through Persona; student cards aren't accepted. Accounts suspected of belonging to someone under 18 are closed and reopened after verification through the Yoti link in the email. Suggested by users If the verification SMS doesn't arrive, try from your phone on mobile data.
- First two settings: If you don't want your chats used for model training, turn off Settings then Privacy then Help improve our AI models. Keep "Code execution and file creation" on so it can create files (on by default on individual plans).
- claude.com/download has the right file for your operating system: Windows 10 or later, macOS 11 or later, Linux (beta: Ubuntu 22.04+ or Debian 12+).
- Open the app and sign in with your web account.
- For Cowork to work in a folder on your computer or for Claude to use your screen, the desktop app must be open. On the Free plan the desktop app has chat only. The Linux version has no computer use or dictation.
- iPhone: "Claude by Anthropic" on the App Store (iOS 18 or later). Android: "Claude" on Google Play. Both links are on the claude.com/download page.
- Sign in with the same account.
- Dictation (speech-to-text) is only in the phone app; Turkish is on the list, and languages other than English are in beta.
!If you buy Pro inside the app, the billing comes from the App Store or Google Play, and canceling and refunds go through them too. In-app prices are shown only in the store.
Claude Code isn't on the Free plan. You need a Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise subscription, or a pay-as-you-go Anthropic Console account. Your computer needs at least 4 GB of RAM; macOS 13+, Windows 10 (1809)+, Ubuntu 20.04+ or Debian 10+.
› curl -fsSL https://claude.ai/install.sh | bash› irm https://claude.ai/install.ps1 | iex- After installing, type
claudein the terminal in your project folder. - A browser opens; confirm the sign-in with your Claude account.
Other options: Homebrew (brew install --cask claude-code), WinGet (winget install Anthropic.ClaudeCode). It also works in VS Code, JetBrains and the Code tab of the desktop app.
How Do You Use Claude?
- Go to claude.ai or open the app.
- Type what you want (Turkish works too); if you have a document, drag it into the chat. You can add up to 20 files to a chat; PDFs can be up to 1,000 pages (charts and images are read too, up to 100 pages).
- If you need current information, say "search the web"; Claude answers with source links.
- If you keep working on the same topic, create a project and put your documents and standing instructions there (5 projects on the Free plan).
- Keep the instructions short: context, rules and Claude's role ("In this project you're writing for an accounting firm; use a formal tone").
- What you say in one chat doesn't carry over to another. Put lasting information (price list, brand rules) in the project as files.
- Write general preferences you want applied in every chat in the "Instructions for Claude" field in Settings.
!Claude can make mistakes. Check numbers, dates and quotes against their source; in particular, don't rely on current information given without a web search.

Where Do You Use Claude: Chat, Cowork, Claude Code, Add-ins
Claude is one app, but it works in four different places. Which one you use depends on the task; for most people, chat is enough.
The screen isn't the same for everyone. Since September 16, 2026, the "new Claude" has been rolling out gradually to Pro and Max accounts: there, chat and Cowork are merged into one screen, there's no web search button (Claude searches on its own when needed), and Research is opened with /deep-research. Accounts that haven't switched yet still see the old screen, with a Chat/Cowork choice in the message box.
Creating Excel, Word, Presentations and Designs with Claude
In chat, Claude creates Excel (XLSX), Word (DOCX), PowerPoint (PPTX) and PDF files, edits files you upload, and analyzes data and draws charts. For this, "code execution and file creation" must be on in settings; it's on by default on individual plans. This feature is on the Free plan too.
Artifacts, which open next to the chat, are used to prepare presentations (Slides), shareable documents (Docs) and single-page websites or screen designs (Design); presentations download as PPTX or PDF. The official sources contradict each other on which plans these three are available on: the pricing page says the Free plan, while a help page says beta on paid plans. If you don't see them in your account, ask for a PowerPoint file instead.
It doesn't generate photos, illustrations or videos. If you need images, use ChatGPT or Gemini; for video, use a separate video tool.
What Is Claude Cowork, and Is It Free?
Cowork is the way of working where you give Claude a multi-step task and get the result when it's done: "Put the invoices in this folder into a spreadsheet," "Summarize my inbox every Monday." Claude breaks the task into its own steps, opens files, browses the web if needed, and finally delivers the file or report.
Only on paid plans (Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise); not on the Free plan. It uses up your usage allowance much faster than regular chat.
- On Pro and Max, since October 6, 2026, new tasks run in the cloud; the work continues even if you turn off your computer.
- If it will work in a folder on your computer, or use the browser or another app, the desktop app must be open, and it only accesses the folders you allow.
- You can schedule recurring tasks; scheduled tasks run in the cloud.
- Using apps that have no connector by clicking and typing on screen (computer use) is in beta, on Pro and Max.
If you "can't see the Cowork option": accounts that have switched to the new screen have no separate Cowork button; chat and Cowork share the same screen, so just describe the task. On the old screen, it opens from the Chat/Cowork choice above the message box.
What Is Claude Code, and Is It Free?
Claude Code is a coding tool that works on the files in a code project: it reads code, changes it, and runs commands and tests. It works in the terminal, in VS Code and JetBrains, in the desktop app and in the browser (with a GitHub repository, preview).
It isn't on the Free plan. It works with a Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise subscription, or with a pay-as-you-go Anthropic Console (API) account. If an API key is set on your computer, you're charged API fees instead of using your subscription; watch out for this.
For a small page or prototype that runs in chat, you don't need Claude Code; artifacts in chat are enough. The install commands are above in the "Download and account" section, on the Claude Code tab.
Which Model? Fable vs Opus vs Sonnet vs Haiku
Claude has four models. You choose which one you're talking to from the model name in the message box. A bigger model thinks more deeply but is slower and uses up your allowance faster. For most tasks, try Sonnet or Opus first.
| Model | What it's for, according to Anthropic | Speed | Which plan |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | The hardest reasoning and long-running, multi-step tasks | Slowest | On Max, up to half of the weekly allowance · On Pro, only with extra usage credits · Not on Free |
| Opus 5.5 | Long-running coding and knowledge work; what Anthropic calls its "everyday flagship" | Medium | Pro and up |
| Sonnet 5.5 | The best balance of speed and intelligence | Fast | Including the Free plan |
| Haiku 5.5 | Large numbers of short, fast tasks: classification, information extraction | Fastest | Including the Free plan |
- Emails, summaries, everyday correspondence: Sonnet
- Long reports, hard analysis, Cowork tasks: Opus
- Very hard, long-running tasks (on Max): Fable
- Many short, repetitive tasks: Haiku
Which model you talk to and the thinking level (effort) determine how fast your allowance runs out. Fable uses it up faster than the others; in Claude Code, Opus also uses noticeably more.
On the web and desktop, click the model name next to the send button; on your phone, choose it at the top of the screen. The change applies from the next reply. Older models are under "More models." In Claude Code, type /model; the default there is Opus 5.5.
On current models thinking can't be turned off; you set how much it thinks with Effort from the model name: Low, Medium, High, Extra high, Max. A higher level is more careful but uses up your allowance faster.
On paid plans, all four current models can read very long documents (1 million token context) in one go; the Free plan's limit is not stated in the official documentation. Fable can't be selected in voice mode.
The "What it's for, according to Anthropic" column comes from the descriptions on Anthropic's models page; "Which one to choose" was compiled from those descriptions, so try two of them on your own work and compare. Model versions change often; this section was checked on October 13, 2026.
Connecting Gmail, Drive, Outlook; Chrome and Excel Add-ins
Connectors let Claude search or take actions in another account of yours. You turn them on in Settings then Connectors; most are on the Free plan too.
| What | What it does | Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Gmail, Calendar, Drive | Searching mail, drafts, calendar, Drive documents | Sending and sharing ask for approval every time |
| Microsoft 365 | Searching Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams content | Work accounts only; personal @outlook.com / @hotmail.com accounts can't be connected |
| Custom connector (MCP) | Connecting a service that isn't in the directory by its URL | 1 on Free |
| Claude in Chrome | Summarizing the open page, comparing tabs, filling in forms | Paid; Google Chrome only, not on phones |
| Excel and PowerPoint add-in | Formulas, tables and slides in the open file | Pro and up |
| Google Docs / Sheets / Slides | Editing the open file in place | Beta; Pro and up |
To describe a recurring task once and have it done with the same steps every time, you add a skill; code execution must be on. Check for yourself, at the source, that a connector or skill is safe; being listed is no guarantee.
Is Claude Free? Plans and Pricing
Yes. The Free plan has chat, web search, reading and creating files, memory, 5 projects and connectors. Research, Cowork, Claude Code, the Chrome and Office add-ins, and searching past chats are on paid plans.

View as a table (annual pricing and details)
| Plan | Web (monthly) | In-app purchase | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Free | Chat, files, web search, 5 projects |
| Pro | $20 ($17/month billed annually) | Available, monthly or annual | More usage, Cowork, Claude Code, Research, add-ins, unlimited projects |
| Max 5x | $100 | Available, monthly | 5x the usage of Pro, priority |
| Max 20x | $200 | Available, monthly | 20x the usage of Pro |
Web prices don't include tax. For teams, the Team plan starts at $25 per user per month ($20 billed annually). Max is billed monthly only; since October 2026, Max also includes $100 or $200 in API credits per month; these credits are only for API (Console) usage and can't be used in the Claude apps or Claude Code.
Tax is added to the web price. Tax is calculated from your card's billing address, and the billing address has to match the country where the card was issued; otherwise the card may be declined. Reported by users Users report that 20% is added to web payments made from Turkey, so $20 becomes $24. If you buy through the App Store, the local price is fixed and Apple issues the invoice.
If you're buying on behalf of a company, ask your accountant about deducting the VAT (KDV). On the Team plan you can enter a tax ID.
There's no fixed number of messages. Your allowance renews in a rolling 5-hour window; paid plans also have a weekly limit. Long documents, Research and Cowork use up the allowance faster. Web, desktop, phone and Claude Code all draw from the same pool.
Diagram: the short-term allowance renews every 5 hours; on paid plans there's also a weekly cap on top of that. When either one fills up, you have to wait.
- See how much is left: Settings then Usage. Reported by users On the Free plan this screen may not appear on every account.
- When you hit the limit: wait for the window to renew, upgrade your plan, or on a paid plan turn on "usage credits" (pay as you go; you can set a monthly cap). If you subscribed from your phone, you can only turn this on from the web.
Official pricing page last checked on .
Claude Usage Runs Out Fast: How Do I Make It Last?
This is what users complain about most: the allowance runs out sooner than expected. Claude rereads the whole chat with every message; the longer the chat gets, the more allowance each message uses.
Diagram: the columns show the text read by messages 1–6 in the same chat. The sixth message makes it reread the first five as well. That's why starting a new chat when the topic changes saves allowance.
- Start a new chat when the topic changes. Instead of sending questions on the same topic one by one, combine them in a single message.
- Put documents you use often in a project. Project content is cached and uses less allowance when reused. The first message after a long break still counts in full.
- For routine work, choose a lighter model or a lower thinking level. Opus and Fable, and high effort, use up the allowance faster.
- Look for the "Reset for free" button. It appears from time to time in Settings then Usage and resets your allowance once; it's on the web and desktop, not on phones.
- Suggested by users When a long chat bogs down, tell Claude "summarize this chat," paste the summary into a new chat and continue.
Does Claude Support Turkish?
| Replies in TurkishYes | Yes. Write in Turkish and it replies in Turkish. |
|---|---|
| Web and desktop interfaceYes | Turkish can be selected: Settings then General then Language then Türkçe. It arrived in October 2026 and was seen on a paid account on October 14, 2026. Anthropic's language help page hasn't been updated yet and doesn't list Turkish. |
| Phone appYes | The App Store page lists Turkish among the app's languages; if your phone is set to Turkish, the menus open in Turkish. |
| Dictation (speech-to-text)Beta | Works in Turkish on the phone; languages other than English are in beta. |
| Voice modeUnclear | Whether it works in Turkish is not stated in the official documentation. You can pick the language in Settings then General then Voice then Language and try it. |
What Happens to What I Write to Claude? Training, Memory, Deletion
On by default for individual accounts. You turn it off with Settings then Privacy then Help improve our AI models (on the phone too, under Settings then Privacy). Incognito chats aren't used for training even if the setting is on.
A deleted chat disappears from your history immediately and from the system within 30 days. If you allow training, de-identified data can be kept for up to 5 years. To delete a chat, use the chat's "⋮" menu › Delete; on your phone, long-press the chat.
Claude can remember you from previous chats. You view, edit or turn it off in Settings then Memory. Incognito chats don't go into your history or memory but are kept for 30 days; you can't create files in an incognito chat.
The data controller is Anthropic PBC in the US. Under KVKK (Turkey's Personal Data Protection Law), the Board has no adequacy decision for the US; on an individual plan, no KVKK standard contract is signed.
On Team, Enterprise and the API, inputs aren't used for training by default; the commercial terms and the data processing addendum apply.
Settings then Account then Delete account. If you're on a paid plan, you first have to cancel your subscription and wait for the end of the billing period. Deletion is permanent.
Anyone with the link can see the chat. You can turn off sharing later, but copies others have taken aren't deleted. Don't share chats that contain confidential information.
When you give a reply a thumbs up or down, the whole chat is sent to Anthropic and can be used even if your training setting is off.
You can export your chats with Settings then Privacy then Export data. Backing up now and then is useful in case your account is closed.
!Before pasting text that mentions customer, student or patient names, mask the names and turn off the training setting. For regular work with customer data, Team, Enterprise or the API is a better fit.
Can I Use What Claude Writes in My Business?
Yes. Under the Terms of Use, as long as you follow the terms, Anthropic assigns you its rights (if any) in the outputs. Individual plans have no clause that generally prohibits commercial use.
- Using text it writes for you as proposals, reports or social media content for clients
- Using and selling the Excel files, Word documents and presentations it creates for you in your business
- Using Claude to develop a competing AI product or model
- Reselling the service or an account
- Accessing it with bots or scripts without permission
- You're responsible for the accuracy of the output and for making sure it doesn't infringe anyone else's rights; check quotes and numbers in particular.
- If you'll be working with customer data regularly, look at the Team or Enterprise plan, where the commercial terms apply.

Common Problems and Fixes
| What's happening | What to do |
|---|---|
| My phone number isn't accepted | You need a mobile number that can receive SMS; virtual numbers and landlines aren't accepted. One number can be used for at most 3 accounts. |
| I hit the message limit | Check in Settings then Usage when it renews. Wait, upgrade your plan, or on a paid plan turn on usage credits. Sending long documents in parts and starting new chats makes the allowance last longer. |
| I can't see the Cowork option | On the new screen there's no separate button; just type the task into the chat. On the old screen, use the Chat/Cowork choice above the message box. Cowork isn't on the Free plan. |
| I can't see Slides, Docs or Design | Say "give it to me as a PowerPoint file"; file creation is on the Free plan too. |
| There's no web search button | The button was removed on the new screen; Claude searches on its own when needed. For a detailed report, type /deep-research or use + › Research (paid). |
| My Hotmail / Outlook.com account won't connect | The Microsoft 365 connector doesn't work with personal accounts; you need a work account. |
| Claude Code is charging API fees instead of using my subscription | If an API key is set on your computer, Claude Code uses it. To use your subscription, remove the key and sign in with your Claude account. |
| The task stopped when I turned off my computer | On Pro and Max, new tasks run in the cloud. For a task that uses a folder on your computer, the browser or the screen, the desktop app must be open. |
| "Capacity constraints" or "Something went wrong" error | A capacity error doesn't mean your allowance is used up or that Claude is down; demand is high at that moment, so try again a little later. You can check status.claude.com to see whether there's a real outage. |
| It forgets information from the start of a long chat | When a chat gets very long, Claude summarizes the older part and details can be lost. Start a new chat and give the needed information again, or put it in a project as a file. |
| An unexpected charge appeared on my card | Check your invoices in Settings then Billing. If "Usage credits" is on, check your monthly cap or turn it off. Also check your App Store/Google Play subscriptions. If you don't recognize the charge, call your bank. |
| My account was closed for being under 18 | Verify your age with a selfie or ID through the Yoti link sent to your email; once verified, the account is reopened. Anthropic doesn't see the image. |
| My account was closed and I can't sign in | If a VPN is on, turn it off. Sharing one account between several people isn't supported. If you think it was closed unfairly, fill in Anthropic's appeal form. |
| I can't reach a human in support | There's no human support on the Free plan. On Pro and Max, a support bot answers first, and if needed your case is passed to the team in writing. |
Is Claude Free for Students?
In Turkey there's no free or discounted offer for individual students or academics. If your university has a Claude for Education agreement, you get access with your school account. Claude for Teachers is only for teachers in the US. The Free plan and the free Anthropic Academy courses are open to everyone.
People under 18 (high school students) can't use Claude; the account may be closed.
How Do You Cancel Claude Pro, and Can You Get a Refund?
- On claude.ai, click your name at the bottom left › Settings then Billing then Cancel.
- If you bought it through an app store, cancel in your Apple or Google subscription settings; deleting the app doesn't cancel the subscription.
- To avoid a new charge, cancel at least 24 hours before your next billing date; you keep access until the end of the period.
Anthropic's rule: payments are generally non-refundable. You can still request one: in the help menu, Get help › "Claude Refund Request." In the EU, EEA and UK there's a prorated refund based on usage within 14 days; a separate rule for Turkey is not stated in the official documentation. If you bought through the App Store, only Apple handles refunds.

Phone verification is required when you create an account and can't be skipped. You need a mobile number that can receive SMS; virtual numbers and landlines aren't accepted. One number can be used for at most 3 accounts and can't be changed later.
Can Claude be used in Turkey?
Yes. Turkey is on Anthropic's list of supported countries (including claude.ai, Claude Code and Cowork).
Is Claude free for students?
In Turkey there's no free or discounted offer for individual students. If your university has a Claude for Education agreement, you get access with your school account. The Free plan is open to everyone; people under 18 can't use Claude.
Can Claude make videos or images?
It doesn't generate photos or videos. It draws charts and flowcharts inside its answers, and prepares presentations and design mockups.
Can I get Claude Pro cheaper?
The lowest official price is annual billing: $17 a month on the web ($200 upfront). The official pages don't mention a discount code program; accounts sold on other sites may violate Anthropic's terms.
Is Max unlimited?
No. Max also has the 5-hour window and a weekly limit; it just gives you 5x or 20x the usage of Pro.
Can I buy it tax-free by changing my billing country?
Anthropic's rule: the billing address must match the country where the card was issued; if it doesn't, the card may be declined. Users report that buying with an address in another country, or through another country's App Store, puts the account at risk.
Are "free Claude" tricks safe?
The official free route is the Free plan. Shared or purchased accounts violate Anthropic's terms: reselling the service is prohibited, and sharing one account between several people isn't supported. These accounts can be closed, and what you write stays in someone else's account.
Which company and country is Claude from?
Claude is developed by Anthropic, based in San Francisco in the US. For individual accounts, the data controller is also Anthropic PBC.
How do I cancel Claude Pro, and can I get a refund?
claude.ai > your name > Settings > Billing > Cancel. If you bought it in the app, cancel in your Apple or Google subscription settings. Payments are generally non-refundable; you can request one with Get help > Claude Refund Request. For App Store purchases, Apple handles refunds.
Is Claude safe, and what happens to what I write?
On individual accounts, using your chats for model training is on by default; you turn it off in Settings > Privacy. Deleted chats are removed from the system within 30 days. Data goes to the US. Mask customer or patient names before pasting.
Can I bring my memory over when switching from ChatGPT to Claude?
Partly. You can import ChatGPT's memory with Settings > Memory > Start import. Chat history doesn't transfer, only memory; the feature is experimental.
Can I talk to a human in support?
Not on the Free plan. On Pro and Max, a support bot answers first, and if it can't solve the issue, it passes it to the team in writing.
What is Claude Cowork?
A way of working where you give Claude a multi-step task and get the result when it's done; recurring tasks can be scheduled. Only on paid plans. On Pro/Max accounts that have switched to the new screen, it's on the same screen as chat; on the old screen, it opens from the Chat/Cowork choice.
Can Claude make presentations?
Yes. It creates PowerPoint files on the Free plan too; if Slides is enabled on your account, you can prepare the presentation next to the chat and download it as PPTX or PDF.
Can Claude build a website?
In chat it can make single-page websites and screen designs (Design, Artifacts). To code a real project across files you need Claude Code (paid plan or API).
Does Claude connect to Gmail or Outlook?
Gmail, Google Calendar and Drive can be connected (on the Free plan too). Microsoft 365 connects only with a work account; personal Outlook/Hotmail accounts can't be connected.
Does Claude read PDFs, and how many pages?
Yes. You can add 20 files to a chat; PDFs can be up to 1,000 pages. Charts and images are read too, up to 100 pages; after that, text only.

Not clear in the official sources: Whether Slides, Docs and Design are on the Free plan (the pages contradict each other) · upload size (30 MB and 500 MB on two different pages) · Turkish voice mode · the refund rule for Turkey · the Turkish interface (it's in the settings, but the help page doesn't list it yet). Each one is covered in its section, along with what you can do.
