What Is Canva? Free Plan, Pro Pricing, Background Remover, Canva AI, Free Education Accounts via EBA and Turkish Support
In Canva you pick a ready-made template and change the text, photos and colors to make social media graphics, presentations, CVs, posters, videos or a one-page website; you can also type a request to Canva AI in Turkish and have it generate a draft. It runs in the browser, in the Windows and Mac apps, and on iPhone and Android. The Free plan is permanent: more than 1.6 million templates, 5 GB of storage and up to about 20 AI uses a month. Background removal, Magic Resize, translation, CMYK print files and AI video are on paid plans. What Is Canva Used For?
Canva lets you produce professional-looking work without design skills: you pick a template, change the text and photos, and download. It's used for Instagram posts, presentations, CVs, posters, invitations, business cards, short videos and one-page websites; there are also docs, spreadsheets and whiteboards.
You can also type what you want and have it generate designs, presentations, text and images (Canva AI). Much of the photo editing toolset (background removal, object removal, expanding) and AI video are on paid plans.
Who it's for: small business owners, teachers, students and content creators who make social media graphics, posters, presentations and CVs without hiring a designer. The rules to watch for print jobs and commercial use are below ("Sending to print", "Commercial use").
You can access Affinity, the app Canva acquired, for free with your Canva account (the pricing page lists "Access to Affinity" on the Free plan). The AI-powered Affinity tools, however, aren't on the Free plan.
How Do You Download Canva and Create an Account?
You can use Canva in the browser without installing anything. The desktop app for Windows and Mac and the mobile app for iPhone and Android work with the same account; the desktop app has the same features as the browser version.
- Open canva.com and choose Sign up. You can create an account with Google, Apple, Facebook, Microsoft or email. If you sign in with Google and don't have an account, one is created automatically.
- When signing up by email, you enter the code sent to your address; you can set a password later in Settings. Temporary (disposable) email addresses aren't accepted.
- You must be 13 or older. Under the terms of use, people under 13 (or under the age of consent for personal data processing in their country) can use Canva only through Canva for Education.
- Each person needs their own account. The terms of use require each account to belong to a single person; don't let anyone else use your account.
- canva.com/download is where you download the Windows or Mac app. The official download page lists Windows, Mac, iOS, Android and Chromebook.
- You need Windows 10 (version 1909) or later, or macOS 12 (Monterey) or later; at least 1 GB of RAM (4 GB recommended) and 1 GB of free space.
- If the app freezes, first try the same task in the browser. The Memory Saver option in the app's settings pauses idle tabs.
- iPhone and iPad: "Canva: AI Video & Photo Editor" on the App Store. The help page requires iOS 15.4 or later.
- Android: Canva on Google Play. You need Android System WebView 99 or later.
- Sign in with your web account; your designs are the same on every device.
!If you buy Pro inside the app, you're billed by Apple or Google, and cancellations and refunds go through them too. Deleting the app doesn't cancel the subscription.
App Store listing (October 14, 2026): the app's age rating is 13+.
How Do You Use Canva?
- Go to canva.com or open the app; start with a free account.
- Type what you want to make in the search box ("Instagram post", "CV", "presentation", "poster") and pick a template. Some parts of templates or images with a "Pro" badge are paid (see the "Is it free?" section below).
- Change the text, photos and colors; drag and drop your own logo or photo.
- Choose Share, then Download, to get a PNG, JPG, PDF or MP4. PNG or JPG suits social media; PDF Print suits printing.
You open Canva AI from the Canva AI button on the home page or from the side menu in the editor. You can also speak your prompt using the microphone icon.
- Custom-size designs are on the Free plan too; sizes like an Instagram post come ready-made with templates.
- You save your logo, colors and fonts to a Brand Kit. The Free plan has 1 Brand Kit and only 3 colors.
- Offline mode and real-time collaboration (link sharing) are on the Free plan too.
!Canva AI can make mistakes. Check numbers, names and dates.

Is Canva AI Free? How Is the Monthly Allowance Counted?
Canva counts AI usage in a single monthly pool and splits tools into three tiers: Standard (uses the least), Premium and Ultra (uses the most). The size of the pool depends on your plan. The numbers aren't exact; they're "up to about" values: complex requests or mixing several tools use up the allowance faster.
| Plan | Monthly AI allowance (up to about) |
|---|---|
| Free | ~20 uses with Standard or Premium tools. No Ultra. |
| Pro and Business free trial | Same as the Free plan (~20 uses). No Ultra. |
| Pro (and Nonprofits) | Standard tools don't count toward the allowance*. Premium ~200 or Ultra ~20. |
| Business | Standard tools don't count toward the allowance*. Premium ~400 or Ultra ~40. |
| Canva for Education | Standard tools don't count toward the allowance*. Premium ~200 or Ultra ~20. |
- Standard: Image Upscaler, image generation with Canva AI (Standard quality option), Magic Formulas
- Premium: design and presentation generation with Canva AI, image generation, Canva Code, music and sound effect generation, Magic Layers
- Ultra: chat-based design with Canva AI 2.0, video clips with Canva AI, highest-quality images
On paid plans, Standard tools such as Magic Write, translation, voiceover, and photo and video animation don't count toward the allowance. On the Free plan the same tools also come out of the ~20 monthly uses.
On the Free plan, on the 1st of every month at 00:00 UTC (03:00 Turkey time). On paid plans, on your billing date; with an annual subscription it also resets monthly, on your billing date.
The Settings then Billing page shows your AI usage and remaining allowance. Canva shows a notification when you get close to the limit.
On the Free plan, Ultra tools are turned off until the end of the month. For Standard and Premium, two official pages say different things: one says you can continue with short waits, the other says they're turned off until the end of the month. On paid plans, Standard tools keep working; Premium and Ultra may be turned off for a short time.
Upgrading your plan is the simplest way. Pro and Business (for web subscribers) have a paid add-on, AI Pass, and Business has a one-time AI add-on pack valid for 30 days. The prices of the add-ons aren't stated on the official pages.
Editing an open design by chatting is on the Pro, Business and Enterprise plans; the help page says it's "not yet available to everyone" and is rolling out gradually. It isn't on the Free plan. If you don't see it in your account, check your plan; if your plan qualifies, wait for the gradual rollout.
- Giving a large file or a multi-step request in a single prompt uses more of the allowance: a 40-slide presentation uses more than a 5-slide one, and a multi-step chat uses more than a single prompt.
- Designs you generate inside Canva AI, or from Canva connected to an assistant like ChatGPT or Claude, come out of the same pool.
- Third-party apps on the Canva Marketplace have their own limits; they don't count toward Canva's monthly allowance.
*Fair use limits apply. Allowance amounts and tool tiers are from Canva's "Understanding your AI usage" page (October 14, 2026). Canva says it may change these limits.
Is Background Removal Free in Canva? Magic Eraser, Resize and Other Photo Tools
Short answer: no, background removal is only on paid plans. Canva's help page says Background Remover is included in paid plans, and it isn't checked for the Free plan in the Turkey pricing table either. On paid plans it doesn't count toward the AI allowance.
In the table below, Yes = on the Free plan, No = paid plans only.
| Background removal (photo)No | Select the photo and open Background Remover (BG Remover) from the editor toolbar. It works in bulk on up to 50 photos in a folder. It only works on photos you upload (it skips Canva library photos in bulk processing); the photo must be under 9 MB, it doesn't work on vector graphics, and photos larger than 10 megapixels are reduced to 10 megapixels. |
|---|---|
| Video background removalNo | Works on videos shorter than 10 minutes. If you trimmed the video in Canva, you need to download it and upload it again. |
| Magic Eraser (object removal)No | Removes unwanted people, objects or text from a photo. |
| Magic EditNo | Brush over an area and add or replace an object with a short prompt. |
| Magic ExpandNo | Extends a photo beyond its edges. It may not give good results with faces, hands or images with transparent backgrounds; the expanded image can only be downloaded as part of the design. |
| Magic GrabNo | Separates an object in a photo so you can move or replace it. |
| Magic ResizeNo | Adapts a post to a story, cover or A4 size in one click. On Pro, Business, Education and nonprofit plans; up to 50 designs at a time, up to 5 new sizes per design. |
| Basic photo editorYes | Photo editing and enhancement are on the Free plan in the pricing table. |
| Mockups (product scenes)Yes | The Mockups tools that place your product in a ready-made scene are on the Free plan. |
| Photo and video animationYes | One-click effects to animate; on the Free plan it comes out of the monthly AI pool. |
| Text-to-image generationPartly | On the Free plan it's generated from your monthly allowance; the highest quality (Ultra) isn't on the Free plan. |
If leftovers remain at the edges of the removed background, open Background Remover again; you can zoom in and fine-tune with the erase and restore brushes. Typing "remove the background" to Canva AI is another way (on paid plans).
- Make the page background white, or select the background element and delete it with the trash icon.
- Choose Share, then Download; select PNG as the file type.
- Turn on the Transparent background toggle and download.
Transparent background downloads are on Pro, Business, Education and nonprofit plans; not on the Free plan. It isn't possible in Canva Docs.
- If you're on the Free plan, the button requires a paid plan; this is the most common reason.
- The toolbar doesn't appear until you select the photo; make sure the photo has been uploaded.
- If some photos in a folder weren't processed, Canva may not have found a clear subject or they may be library photos; the ones marked "an error occurred" stay in the original folder.
Background Remover uses AI, but Canva counts it as an editing tool rather than a "generative" one; used on its own, it doesn't add "AI content" metadata to the design. If the result still gets an AI label on Instagram or TikTok, send Canva support the design link and where you posted it.
Making a CV and Editing PDFs in Canva
- For a CV, type "CV" in the search box, pick a template, fill in your details and download it as a PDF.
- If a "contains paid elements" warning appears when downloading, the template or an image has a Pro element; start again with a free template or replace the element.
- If Turkish characters show up as boxes, change the font to one that supports Turkish (the steps are in the Turkish section).
- Drag the PDF file onto the Canva home page (or select it with the upload button).
- Click text to change it; replace an image with another or delete it; move elements.
- Choose Share, then Download, to get PDF Standard, PDF Print, PNG, JPG or (if there's animation) MP4.
- Limits: up to 500 pages, 300 MB and 1,400 elements or images. Anything beyond that may import incompletely.
- A scanned PDF comes in as a single flat image; its text can't be edited, so you rewrite the text with Canva text boxes.
- Fonts that Canva doesn't have may be replaced with similar ones, and some layouts may shift slightly.
- A browser on a computer is recommended for advanced editing.
!The official pages don't say which plans include PDF editing. If you can drag a PDF onto the home page and click on its text, it's enabled on your account.
!If you download cropped images as a PDF, the cropped part stays inside the file; someone editing the PDF can extract the full image. Delete the part you want to keep hidden and recreate the image.
Presentations, Video, Music and Voiceover with Canva
Presentations: you can pick a ready-made template or type a topic to Canva AI and have it generate a draft. Canva may first suggest a slide outline; once you approve it, it generates the slides. This is a Premium tool and comes out of your monthly allowance. You can also have AI write your speaker notes.
- To export a presentation to PowerPoint, choose Share, then PPTX under Download; only presentations download as PPTX. Animations and embedded videos may not work in PowerPoint, and fonts may look different.
- Translating a presentation into another language is on paid plans (see the Turkish section).
Video: the video editor is on the Free plan. Photo and video animations are free; Magic Animate, Highlights, Enhance Voice and automatic Beat Sync (manual beat syncing on the Free plan) are on paid plans. You download videos as MP4 and animations as GIF.
- Generates 6-second silent or 8-second clips with sound.
- Prompts can only be written in English.
- It's an Ultra tool: not on the Free plan. Generation can take up to 2 minutes.
- Canva AI isn't available yet inside video designs in the editor; you open it from Canva AI on the home page.
- Music and sound effect generation is a Premium tool; a music track is 30 seconds. In your prompts, write the genre, mood, instruments and tempo; prompts asking for known songs, artist imitations or branded music are blocked.
- You can use the generated music and sound effects in personal and commercial projects (ads, social media, video), but you don't own them and can't sell them on their own.
- Canva AI Voiceover is on the Free plan in the pricing table. You can enter up to 1,000 characters per conversion (a separate text-to-speech page says 2,000). Turkish voice support isn't stated on the official pages.
- When sharing paid library music on social media or video platforms, Canva asks you to verify the audio license to avoid copyright claims.
Posting to Instagram from Canva, Scheduling and Publishing a Website
Downloading a design and posting it yourself is allowed on every plan. Scheduling directly from Canva (Content Planner) is on paid plans: Pro, Business, Education (if the admin enables it) and nonprofits. You can schedule to Facebook Pages, Instagram business accounts, X, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Slack and Tumblr.
- A design is scheduled to one platform at a time.
- Instagram scheduling only works from a browser on a computer and requires an Instagram business account.
- On your phone you can view Content Planner; scheduling is done from the editor.
- On Pro and Business, up to 80 social accounts can be connected per person within a team.
You can publish a design made with a Website template at a free canva.site address. On the Free plan you get up to 5 live sites and a "Designed with Canva" label that can't be removed; publishing without the label requires Pro. You connect your own domain on paid plans (under the terms of use, up to 5 domains on paid subscriptions and 1 on Education and nonprofit plans). Link in bio and mobile site templates are only published to a canva.link address.
Sizes like an Instagram post, story and YouTube thumbnail come ready-made with templates. To convert an existing design to another size there's Magic Resize (paid); on the Free plan you need to start a new design at the right size.
Sending a Canva Design to Print: PDF Print, CMYK and Bleed
For a job going to a print shop, a file that looks good on screen may not be enough. In Canva, the right file for printing is PDF Print: exported at 300 dpi, with bleed and crop marks, and with an RGB or CMYK color profile. Regular PDF Standard is 96 dpi and meant for screens.
- In the editor, show margins and print bleed from the settings in the File menu. Keep text and logos inside the margins, and extend the background to the bleed.
- Choose Share, then Download; select PDF Print as the file type and check the crop marks and bleed box.
- The CMYK color profile option is on paid plans; on the Free plan you can't export as CMYK.
- Ask your print shop about its bleed and color profile requirements. Canva's default bleed is 3.175 mm (0.125 in) on each edge and can't be changed.
| File type | What for |
|---|---|
| PDF Standard | Screen and sharing; 96 dpi. |
| PDF Print | Print; 300 dpi, bleed, crop marks, choice of RGB or CMYK. |
| PNG | Graphics and transparent backgrounds (transparent background on paid plans). |
| JPG | Photo-heavy work, small files. |
| MP4 and GIF | Designs with video or animation. |
| PPTX | Presentations only. |
!Canva may not be able to quality-check your design before printing. Print a proof before placing a print order.
Printing products through Canva (business cards, T-shirts, mugs and so on) is on the Free plan in the pricing table. Delivery to Turkey and its prices aren't stated on the official pages; the safest route is to take the PDF Print file to your own print shop.
Where Can You Use Canva: Browser, App, AI Assistants, School
You use Canva as a design editor in the browser and the app, as Canva AI by chatting, from inside AI assistants, and at school as Canva for Education. Which of these are available depends on your plan and account.
| Environment | Requirements | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Browser (canva.com) | Chrome 99, Firefox 102, Safari 15.4, Edge 99 or Opera 86 and later; JavaScript enabled; TLS 1.2 and later | Older browser versions are no longer supported. |
| Windows app | Windows 10 (version 1909) and later; at least 1 GB of RAM (4 GB recommended); 1 GB of free space | Same features as in the browser. |
| Mac app | macOS 12 (Monterey) and later; 64-bit Intel or Apple M1; 2 GB of RAM (4 GB recommended); 1 GB of free space | Runs on Macs with Intel and Apple processors. |
| iPhone and iPad | iOS 15.4 and later; 50 MB of free space (help page) | The App Store page says "iOS 15.0 and later"; the two differ. |
| Android | Android System WebView 99 and later | Very old app versions won't open until updated. |
| Chromebook | The official download page lists Chromebook | No version requirement is stated. |
Offline mode (making your files available offline) is on the Free plan too. The new version of Canva AI (chat-based editing, connectors) is rolling out to accounts gradually; if you can't see it on screen, check your plan and account.
Using Canva from ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini
You can connect your Canva account to the AI assistant you chat with and have it generate designs from there. There are three separate things, and they're often confused:
| What | What it does | Who uses it |
|---|---|---|
| Canva AI Connector | Generating and searching Canva designs and getting PDF, PNG or PPTX files from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Copilot | All Canva accounts, including Free and Education; connected from the assistant's settings |
| Canva AI connectors | Connecting Gmail, Drive, Slack and Zoom inside Canva AI and generating designs from the content there | Pro and Business |
| Developer MCP Server | For people building apps on top of Canva | Developers; not needed for everyday use |
Generating designs from an assistant also comes out of your AI allowance in Canva; the assistant's own message limit applies separately. Searching Brand Templates requires a paid plan. On a team or school account, the admin can turn this connection off.

| Plan | Web price | In-app price | What's added |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | Free | Free | Templates, 5 GB, ~20 AI uses/month |
| Pro (1 person) | Listed on the official pricing page | Listed in the App Store | All templates, 100 GB, background removal, resizing, translation, ~200 Premium or ~20 Ultra AI uses |
| Business | Listed on the official pricing page | Listed in the App Store | 500 GB, 100 Brand Kits, teamwork, ~400 Premium or ~40 Ultra AI uses |
| Canva for Education | Free | Not available | Free for teachers and students; sign in with EBA |
A Pro account can be used by only one person. For teams there's Business; you pay only for team members who accept your invite ("pay as you grow"). Canva Teams no longer accepts new sign-ups. With annual billing, the effective monthly cost of Pro is the annual price divided by 12.
Pro and Business have a free trial, once per account and once per payment method. During the trial your AI allowance is the same as the Free plan (about 20); the full allowance opens when the paid plan starts. When the trial ends, the plan renews automatically: you see the end date on the Settings then Billing page, and you get an email before it ends. The official help pages don't say how many days the trial lasts.
Pro content appears watermarked (with a crosshatch pattern) in your design. When you download, you get two options: upgrade to Pro, or buy the paid elements you used one by one ("pay and download"). The purchased license is for that design only; if you use the same element in another design, you need a new license. The official page doesn't state the one-time fee.
If you're a Pro subscriber, the license is granted automatically for each new design at no extra cost.
With official pricing, the cheapest route is annual billing, which costs less than 12 monthly payments. A "50% off" button sometimes appears on the pricing page; the page doesn't state its terms. Sites selling accounts, shared accounts and cracked (APK, mod) versions violate Canva's terms of use. Free routes: the Free plan, the free trial, Canva for Education (EBA) and eligible nonprofits.
Plan details are from Canva's pricing page and App Store listing (October 14, 2026). The pricing page doesn't say whether VAT is included; prices and promotions may change.
How Do You Set Canva to Turkish? Turkish Characters, Fonts and Translation
| Turkish interface (menus)Yes | You select Turkish in the Language section under Your account › Your profile; the change is saved automatically and the app reloads. Without signing in: the language (globe) icon at the bottom of the page. A local language also unlocks local fonts and templates. The App Store listing shows Turkish for the mobile app. |
|---|---|
| Writing to Canva AI in TurkishYes | Turkish is among the languages Canva AI supports. Depending on account language, some team members may not see Canva AI features. |
| Video clip promptsNo | Canva AI video clip prompts can only be written in English. |
| Music and sound effect promptsPartly | Works in multiple languages; if a prompt doesn't give the result you expect, try writing it in English. |
| Turkish voiceover (AI Voice)Unclear | The official pages don't state Turkish voice support. Check the language list in the voiceover panel for a Turkish option. |
| Translating a design into or from TurkishYes | Translation is on paid plans; more than 100 languages, including Turkish. One language and up to 2,000 characters at a time; open it by right-clicking "Translate text" or from the Resize menu in the editor. If characters break after translation, choose a different font. |
| Turkish characters (ş, ğ, ı, İ, ö, ü, ç)Partly | If the font doesn't support Turkish characters, the letters appear as ▯ or boxes. The steps below fix it. |
- Select the text box that looks wrong.
- Open the font menu from the toolbar and click See all.
- Scroll down and pick a font from the "fonts in your language" section.
If you want to upload your own Turkish font, you upload it through the Brand Kit: on Pro, Business, Education and nonprofit plans; the file must be OTF, TTF or WOFF, the font must have an embedding license, and variable fonts aren't supported.
Menu names are from Canva's help pages; screens may vary by account and version.
What Happens to What I Upload to Canva? Privacy, AI Training, Account Deletion
On a personal account, Canva uses your content to improve AI features only if your privacy setting allows it; you can change the setting at any time. Content on Business, Teams and Enterprise accounts isn't used; on Education accounts, students' content isn't used. The setting doesn't apply to third-party apps on the Marketplace. The official page doesn't state the setting's default: check your privacy settings page to see whether it's on or off.
Canva stores its data in the US. Data is processed by Canva group companies in Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, the UK, Singapore, Europe and the US.
Canva uses third-party technology partners for some AI features; your prompts and uploaded content may be shared with partners for this purpose.
By default your designs are only open to people you add. If you give "Anyone with the link" access or a view link, anyone who has the link can see it; don't use this for designs with confidential information.
KVKK (Turkey's Personal Data Protection Authority), by a Board decision dated September 16, 2026, publicly announced a data breach reported by Canva Pty Ltd: there was unauthorized access to a third-party tool Canva uses; data related to 424 organizations in Turkey was affected, and the number of affected individuals couldn't be determined. The affected data includes the names, work emails, workplace locations and work phone numbers of Canva customers' employees, as well as (to the extent shared with Canva) order forms, contracts, invoices and business correspondence. The notice doesn't mention individual users' designs. The investigation is ongoing; for information, see the Canva help center or privacy@canva.com.
You request account deletion from the "Login & security" section of your account settings; the account is deleted after 14 days, and you can change your mind by signing in during that time. Your designs, folders, uploads and the teams you created are permanently deleted: cancel Pro first and download what you want to keep. After you delete your account, Affinity only works offline for 14 days.
Canva says users can download and delete their data from their account settings. The address given for access requests is privacy@canva.com.
Children under 13 can use Canva only through Canva for Education.
!Before sharing a design that contains customer, patient or student information via a link, check its access setting. This section isn't legal advice.
Can I Use Canva Content and Outputs for My Business? Copyright and Licensing
Yes, you can use designs you make with Canva content for commercial work, but there are rules depending on the type of content.
- Using designs with Free and Pro content in commercial projects such as ads, packaging, presentations, catalogs, social media and book covers (no quantity limit on printed products)
- Producing prints such as posters and cards for promotion or sale
- Using Canva AI outputs in personal and commercial projects
- Transferring a design to a single client with a written agreement (for the client's own use only)
- Using Canva content as part of a brand, logo, trade name or service mark (except fonts)
- Downloading, distributing or selling Pro content on its own; using Pro content in template apps
- Using content labeled "editorial use only" in ads or for commercial purposes
- Using Pro content commercially on an Education account (commercial work requires a separate account)
- Using branded content (e.g., Disney) for commercial purposes
- Pro content is licensed for a single design: if you use the same element in another design, the license is renewed (automatically if you subscribe; paid again if you're a free user).
- When using unedited Pro content on web pages, blogs, e-books and videos, there's a limit of 480,000 pixels per file (e.g., 600 × 800). This limit doesn't apply to Canva's own website publishing or to embedded designs hosted on Canva.
- Paid library music can't be used in ads on traditional media such as TV, film, radio, podcasts and billboards; it can be used in online ads (e.g., YouTube in-video ads).
- AI outputs may not be unique. If you edit a photo from Canva's library with AI, you don't own the output. You also don't own music you generate with Canva AI.
- Canva gives no guarantee for people, brands, logos and works in Canva content; getting any necessary permission is up to you.

Common Problems and Fixes
| What's happening | What to do |
|---|---|
| Letters look like ▯ or boxes | The font doesn't support Turkish characters: select the text, then in the font menu go to See all › fonts in your language and pick another font. |
| Background removal says "Upgrade to Pro" | Background removal is only on paid plans. There's nothing you can do on the Free plan; a Pro trial or Canva for Education (EBA) are the open routes. |
| A "contains paid elements" warning appears when downloading | The design has a Pro-badge template, image or music, and it looks watermarked. Replace the element, buy a one-time license or upgrade to Pro. |
| I can't sign in with EBA | Make sure you chose Continue with EBA rather than Google, email or Apple; try a different browser or clear the cache. If it's an account problem, contact the EBA support site (eba.gov.tr) or MEBİM (the Ministry of National Education's helpline) at 444 0 632. |
| My Canva for Education application was rejected | In Turkey, no application is needed: on canva.com, go to Log in › Continue with EBA. People not currently in an active teaching role aren't eligible. |
| I don't have Canva AI 2.0 / chat-based editing | It's on the Pro, Business and Enterprise plans and is rolling out gradually; it isn't on the Free plan. |
| My AI allowance ran out | Check your remaining allowance on the Settings then Billing page. Wait for it to reset, upgrade your plan or (on a Pro/Business web subscription) buy AI Pass. |
| I canceled but was still charged | Check where you subscribed: Apple and Google subscriptions can't be canceled from Canva. You may have a second Canva account. If you didn't get a cancellation confirmation email, the cancellation didn't go through; try again. |
| I bought Pro but the app shows Free | If you bought it from the App Store, try Restore purchases in the app and make sure you're signed in with the Apple ID you used for the purchase. If you bought it on the web, check that you're signed in with the same Canva account. |
| I can't change the text in a PDF | A scanned PDF comes in as a single image, and its text can't be edited. If the file exceeds 500 pages, 300 MB or 1,400 elements, it may open incompletely. |
| I can't schedule to Instagram | Scheduling is on paid plans; for Instagram you need a browser on a computer and an Instagram business account, and a design is scheduled to one platform at a time. |
| There's no option to generate music or sound effects | The feature may not have been enabled on your account yet, your plan may not include it, or your admin may have turned it off (Teams, Business, Enterprise). |
| Canva won't open, freezes or is slow | First check the Canva status page (canvastatus.com). Then update your browser or try a different one; in the desktop app, reset the app (your designs aren't deleted) and turn on Memory Saver. |
Is Canva Free for Teachers and Students? EBA Sign-In, Universities, Nonprofits
Yes, for primary and secondary school teachers and students in Turkey. Thanks to a partnership between Canva and Turkey's Ministry of National Education (MEB), they use Canva for Education for free; no separate application is needed, you sign in with your EBA account.
- Go to canva.com and choose Log in.
- Choose "Continue with EBA" (not Google, email or Apple).
- On the EBA sign-in page, choose the method that suits you and follow the prompts; no email address is needed.
| Sign-in option | When to use it |
|---|---|
| e-Devlet | If you have an e-Devlet (Turkey's e-government portal) account. |
| MEBBİS | If you have a MEBBİS (the ministry's staff information system) account; the most common option for teachers. |
| Open Education enrollment | If you're enrolled in an Open Education (Açık Eğitim) program. |
| Turkish ID number and password | If you prefer to sign in with your national ID number (TC Kimlik No). |
!This account can't be opened with a personal email. Sign-in problems usually come from the MEB account: contact the EBA support site (eba.gov.tr) or MEBİM at 444 0 632. If the problem is in your school's single sign-on (SSO) setup, contact your school's IT team.
- University students and faculty: not covered by this program. Canva for Campus is a paid plan purchased at the institution level; if your university has it, you sign in with your university email, otherwise you use the Free plan or Pro. A free plan or discount for individual university students isn't stated on the official pages.
- People not currently in a teaching role (for example, teachers not yet appointed), private tutors and tutoring center staff, preschool and daycare staff, and parents of K-12 students. That's what the global eligibility rules say.
- The AI allowance is separate for each user: ~200 Premium or ~20 Ultra a month. When it runs out, Premium features continue with short waits.
- Pro content is for educational, non-commercial use only. If you're doing commercial work, you need to open a separate Canva account.
- Students' content isn't used to improve AI features.
- Publishing to social media is off by default and the admin turns it on; a student's website is approved by the teacher first.
Eligible organizations get all Pro features free for a team of up to 50 users (Canva for Nonprofits). Requirements: being officially registered as a nonprofit charity in your country, operating independently of the government and not pursuing commercial profit. Government agencies, political organizations, commercial companies, grant-making and private foundations, and associations that benefit their members aren't eligible. Which countries are eligible and which documents are required are listed in Canva's country eligibility list; for associations and foundations in Turkey, check the country list on the eligibility page before applying.
The application link is in the Settings then Billing tab; the reply comes by email within 72 hours.
How Do You Cancel Canva Pro, and Can You Get a Refund?
- First find out where you subscribed: Canva, Apple, Google or PayPal. Check your billing email or bank statement.
- If you bought it from Canva, on the Settings then Billing page choose Cancel plan for your plan and confirm the steps; you get a confirmation email.
- If you bought it on your phone, cancel from the App Store or Google Play subscription screen. Deleting the app doesn't cancel the subscription.
- After canceling, paid features stay on until the end of the billing period, and your designs aren't deleted (they stay on the Free plan); Affinity stays free.
- Pausing instead of canceling is also possible: Pro, Teams and Business plans can be paused for up to 3 months, with no charges during that time. If you change your mind, you can stay on the plan from the Settings then Billing page before the period ends.
Canva subscriptions are non-refundable in most cases (terms of use), but every request is reviewed. If a refund is approved, the time depends on the payment method: credit card 5–10 business days, PayPal 3–5 business days, other methods up to 20 business days. If you bought through the App Store, only Apple can issue the refund. A separate refund rule for Turkey isn't stated on the official pages.
- You may have a second Canva account or a subscription bought with a different email.
- Apple or Google subscriptions can't be canceled from inside Canva.
- If you appear to have been charged a day before the trial ended, it's because the billing system runs on UTC; Canva considers this normal.
- If you didn't get a cancellation confirmation email, the cancellation may not have gone through; try again.
- If Canva Teams is canceled, it can't be purchased again; if you need a team plan, look at Business.
