What Is CapCut? Free Plan, Pro Pricing, Watermark, Download, Turkish Captions and Commercial Use

You upload your video to CapCut on your phone, computer or in the browser; it trims, merges, applies ready-made templates, adds auto captions, removes backgrounds, turns text into speech, or generates video with AI. Basic editing and free templates are free; if you use an item marked Pro, the video downloads with a watermark on your phone and can't be exported on your computer. The interface is available in Turkish; the official pages don't say whether auto captions work with Turkish speech, so review the result. If you're making a client ad, check that the music is cleared for commercial use.

What Is CapCut Used For?

One of the most widely used video editors for Reels, TikTok and YouTube Shorts. You trim and merge clips, add music and text, turn speech into captions, and put out a video in a few minutes with a ready-made template.

It has AI tools too: removing the background in a video without a green screen, generating a short video from text or a product photo, and automatically editing speech to the beat of the music. AI generation uses credits.

Who it's for: content creators who post short videos, small business owners such as cafés and shops, and social media managers. For long, multi-layer video work, the desktop version is more comfortable.

How Do You Download CapCut and Create an Account?

You can download CapCut to your phone or computer, or open it in the browser without downloading anything. All of them are free to download and work with the same account.

  1. iPhone: "CapCut: Photo & Video Editor" on the App Store in Turkey (iOS 15.0 or later, about 825 MB). Android: the same name on Google Play.
  2. Open it and sign in with Google, TikTok, Facebook or email.

"Pro APK" files for Android from outside the store aren't official. CapCut's own site also has an APK download page; if you want an alternative to the store, consider only that one, and turn the "install from unknown sources" permission back off when you're done.

  • Age: accounts are for ages 13 and up; under 18 (or the age of majority where you live) requires parent or guardian consent. If you get a "You don't meet the age requirement" warning, you appeal from the mobile app; if the appeal is rejected, the account is permanently deleted, so download your data first.
  • Phone verification and ID: whether these are required at sign-up is not stated in the official documentation. The Privacy Policy lists date of birth, login details and phone number as account information.

How Do You Use CapCut? Your First Video with a Template

  1. Open CapCut and pick a template you like from the Templates section. Templates marked with a diamond are paid.
  2. Add your own photos and videos and change the text.
  3. For a video with speech, tap Text › Auto captions: pick the spoken language or leave it on auto-detect, tap Generate, fix wrong words and split long lines.
  4. Export. If you delete the CapCut-branded ending clip at the end (and the project has no Pro items), the video comes out without the logo.

If you're editing from scratch: New project › add clips › trim the extra › Text › Auto captions › add music › export. To take only part of the video, use the In/Out markers (Shift+X or the I/O keys).

Text to video (AI)"Make a 15-second vertical video promoting our café's new winter menu. Use warm tones, simple captions and light music."This is a sample request; the output uses credits. You can also start by adding a product photo.
Fix the captions"Split the long caption lines in two and fix the misspelled words."In CapCut this is a manual edit; you split a line with B on the web and Ctrl/Cmd+B on desktop.

Auto captions may not spell Turkish correctly. Turning off music and effects and regenerating with only the speech audio, plus using a single speaker and clear audio, improves the result.

Why Does CapCut Ask for "Pro" on Export and Add a Watermark?

This is the most common problem in CapCut. The rule: if your project has a Pro-marked template, effect, font, music, sticker, AI tool, premium transition or LUT, you're asked for Pro on export.

WhereIf you used a Pro item
PhoneIf you close the subscription screen, the video still downloads but with a CapCut watermark; videos longer than 15 minutes may also ask for Pro
ComputerCan't be exported without Pro; 4K, 60 fps and no-watermark options are locked
BrowserA free trial or subscription window opens
To remove the watermark
  1. Go to the end of the timeline: most of the time the watermark is the CapCut-branded ending clip at the end of the template. Delete the clip, check the layers for any leftover logo, and export again.
  2. Remove the Pro-marked items or upgrade to Pro.
  3. If you've upgraded to Pro and it still asks for Pro: check that you're signed in with the same account (App Store, Google or CapCut account). Reported by users Users report that the watermark setting has moved under the export tab, and that saving templates via "save and share to TikTok" exports them without the watermark (the official documentation doesn't explain this).

To take only part of the video, use the In/Out markers when exporting. On your phone, closing the Pro window during export and downloading with the watermark is a free option.

CapCut AI Features and Credits

Background removal

Without a green screen, you remove what's behind the person in a video and replace it with a color, image or video. The tool page says it's free; on desktop and the web.

Video from text or a photo

Generates a short video from a written prompt or a product photo and adds captions and music. Uses credits; exporting may require Pro.

AI design

Generates a social media graphic, poster or invitation from a single sentence. You can start with a free account; exporting may depend on your plan.

Auto Cut

Automatically edits your photos and videos to the beat of the music or around pauses in speech. On your phone it's under Templates › AI Creation; because it's rolling out gradually, it may not appear on your account. No plan requirement is stated.

Camera tracking and avatars

Pinning text to a moving object and making talking videos with an AI avatar. Among Pro's advanced AI tools.

Video translator and lip sync

On desktop, Audio › Video translator translates speech into another language (captions or AI dubbing; dubbing in certain regions). Lip sync is under Video › Basic › Lip Sync. No plan requirement is stated for either.

Don't upload client, identity, financial or medical content, or someone else's face and voice without permission, to an AI feature: the help center advises against it. If a feature gets stuck on the "Thinking" screen, wait 30–60 seconds, simplify the prompt, and don't send more than 3 requests in a row.

Using CapCut with ChatGPT (CapCut × Codex)

CapCut's official page describes a plugin called "CapCut × Codex": in the ChatGPT desktop app (on your computer) it generates a draft video through chat, lets you edit the timeline in the chat, and you can continue the work in the CapCut editor if you like. It isn't for ChatGPT in the browser.

It generates a draft videoThe CapCut plugin prepares the draft.
Edit in the chatChange the timeline in the chat, or open it in CapCut if you prefer.
The page says: "Currently available outside the US; US launch coming soon." Turkey falls within this scope.

The CapCut page doesn't state a plan or fee requirement, and use with Claude isn't mentioned. To install the plugin, you need to run the prompt on the page in ChatGPT; the page doesn't make clear exactly what this step does, so read the prompt before running it.

The pricing page shows an "up to 40% off monthly, up to 30% off yearly" badge; the page describes itself as "for informational purposes only," and the final amount, taxes and offer are confirmed on the checkout page after you sign in. The Terms of Service say that fees shown outside the EU and the UK exclude tax and that tax may be added; Turkey isn't among these exceptions. The Pro yearly plan isn't in the Turkey App Store listing.

What are credits?

The unit spent on AI features. Pro and Teams come with 1,200 a month (per seat on Teams), and Ultra with 39,361 credits; you can buy extra credits. Whether the Free plan gets any credits is not stated on the official page.

Whether auto captions and noise reduction are available on the Free plan isn't clear in the official sources: one page says they're free, while the help center lists them among Pro's tools. Try it: if you're asked for Pro on export, that feature is paid on your plan.

Is CapCut Safe? What Happens to What I Upload?

Model training

The Privacy Policy says uploaded content, prompts and files sent to AI, and AI outputs may be used to train, test and improve machine learning models. No setting to turn this off is described. Even if you don't save or publish, it may be collected through pre-upload while you're creating.

Company and servers

The data controller is Bytedance Pte. Ltd. in Singapore. Servers are in Malaysia, Singapore and the US.

KVKK

The Turkish privacy policy has a section on Turkey: you reach the data controller's representative in Turkey by email, the rights under Article 11 of KVKK (Turkey's Personal Data Protection Law) are listed, and requests are answered free of charge within 30 days at most (Data Subject Request Web Form).

Deleting your account

You delete it from the "Manage account" page or the capcut.com/privacy-requests form. A deleted account can't be reopened, and content can't be recovered. Whether a store subscription is canceled when the account is deleted is not stated in the official documentation: cancel the subscription separately.

Store disclosure

Google Play's "Data safety" section says no data is shared with third parties, while the Privacy Policy lists sharing with service providers, business partners and advertising partners. The two don't match; the policy is what counts.

Don't upload confidential, client-owned, identity or financial content, or someone else's face or voice without permission, to AI features. This is not legal advice.

Can I Use CapCut Music and Templates in Ads?

Not every item can be used in commercial work. Under the Materials License Agreement, most materials are for personal, non-commercial use; those marked "commercial use" (Dual Use) are open to limited commercial use. If a video has even one non-commercial item, the video is limited to personal use.

Allowed
  • Using content made with Dual Use materials to promote goods or services in e-commerce and online channels
  • Printed brochures, posters and outdoor ads
  • Showing "Commercial Sounds" music on CapCut, TikTok and TikTok for Business
  • Using voice generated with the text-to-speech tool in ads, on YouTube and in brand promotion (per the tool page, in line with CapCut's terms of use)
Not allowed
  • Using "Sounds" music for commercial purposes (including brand or business promotion)
  • Sharing "Commercial Sounds" outside CapCut and TikTok (Instagram and YouTube ads need a separate license)
  • Using materials on products such as mugs, T-shirts or posters, or as a logo
  • Editing materials outside the platform and distributing or selling them on their own
  • If you're making a video for a client, choose items marked as cleared for commercial use, or use your own music.
  • You own your content, but you grant CapCut and its affiliates a broad license to use it (Terms of Service). There's no separate clause governing ownership of AI output.

Source: CapCut Materials License Agreement (January 22, 2026) and Terms of Service (April 15, 2026). This is not legal advice; for a commercial project, check the item's label and the license text.

Is CapCut Pro APK Safe? Canceling and Refunds

"CapCut Pro APK," "mod" or "free Pro" files aren't official. The official sources are capcut.com, the App Store and Google Play. Pro features are tied to the subscription on your account; a file installed from an unknown source puts your account and device at risk.

  1. iPhone: Settings then Apple ID (your name) › Subscriptions › CapCut › Cancel Subscription. Android: Google Play › profile icon › Payments & subscriptions › Subscriptions › CapCut › Cancel. Web/PC: Payment Management › Subscriptions in your CapCut account.
  2. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. It can take 5–14 business days for the change to go through.
  3. Pro benefits last until the end of the billing period; then the account drops to the Free plan and cloud storage is suspended, so download your content beforehand.
Refunds

The Terms of Service grant a full refund within 14 calendar days of the subscription starting if you haven't used the premium service at all; you request it through a support ticket. The help center, however, treats subscriptions as virtual goods and says there are generally no refunds; the two sources contradict each other. If you bought through Apple or Google, refunds follow that store's rules (Apple: Media & Purchases › Purchase History › Report a Problem).
