What Is Marketing Skills? Installation, 50 Skills, Cost and Sponsor Partners

You install Marketing Skills (npx skills add coreyhaines31/marketingskills or the Claude Code plugin), then ask your agent for conversion optimization, copywriting, SEO, paid ads, measurement, retention, strategy and sales operations work. It is a 50-skill, MIT-licensed open-source collection published by Corey Haines; the skills themselves are Markdown instructions, and 66 optional Node scripts connect to services like Ahrefs, GA4 and Meta Ads with your own API keys. The library is free; however, the project is funded by paid sponsor partners and promotes the author's paid training and products.

What is Marketing Skills for?

A skill is an instruction package that teaches an agent how to work on a topic. Marketing Skills covers 50 marketing topics: page and form conversion (cro), marketing copy (copywriting, copy-editing), A/B testing, pricing, email sequences, cold email, paid ads, analytics setup, attribution, competitor profiling, launches, getting cited in AI search (ai-seo) and more.

The foundational skill that all other skills read first is product-marketing: you write down your product, target audience and positioning once, and the other skills then use this context document.

Who it's for: founders, marketers and agencies who do marketing work (copy, pages, campaign plans) with an AI agent. Skills are instructions; they don't guarantee that the strategy is right, and no independent evidence of quality appears in the official sources.

How do you install Marketing Skills?

The commands are taken verbatim from the README. The README gives eight options; the most common ones:

All› npx skills add coreyhaines31/marketingskills
Selected› npx skills add coreyhaines31/marketingskills --skill cro copywriting
List first› npx skills add coreyhaines31/marketingskills --list

If you run the command from inside an agent session, it may install only to the .agents/skills folder, which Claude Code doesn't read. The README's fix: add -a claude-code at the end.

The npx skills@1.7.0 version pin is not in the README. The README also covers manual copying, git submodule and SkillKit.

How do you use Marketing Skills?

First create the product context document; then call skills by topic. The README gives direct invocation examples like /cro, /emails, /seo-audit.

Context document"Use the product-marketing skill to create the context document for my product. Ask me about the product, target audience and competitors, and write the answers into the document."
Page conversion"Use /cro to review this landing page and list the five changes that would increase conversions the most, in order of importance. Don't change the code; show me the recommendations first."
Email sequence"Draft a five-email welcome sequence for newly signed-up users. Write the goal and subject line of each email."

You don't have to install them all: use --skill to install only the few skills you need. That keeps the agent's context from filling up unnecessarily.

What does Marketing Skills access?

Reads

Skills: project files the agent can already read and the information you provide. The 66 optional CLI scripts: analytics, ad and email data from the relevant service, if you provide a key.

Writes

Following skill instructions, the agent writes copy, pages and code. Some scripts can write (for example, the Resend script sends email); the README recommends making the first test read-only.

Deletes

Skills don't delete anything on their own; review what the scripts do yourself before running them.

Data

Skill files make no network calls. Scripts send requests only to the API address of the service you call and read keys from environment variables. The npx skills installer sends anonymous usage data (DO_NOT_TRACK=1 turns it off).

Don't paste the scripts' keys into the chat; the docs recommend a local .env file and a read-only test first. Which addresses the 66 scripts send requests to is not clear in the official documentation.

The repository has no SECURITY.md. GitHub advisory and OSV database results are not covered here, so whether any advisories are recorded is unknown. This does not mean "safe".

Is Marketing Skills free? Do sponsors influence the advice?

The skill library is free and MIT-licensed (README: "The library is free and MIT-licensed"). The paid offerings are separate products: the "AI Marketing Training" from the author's agency Conversion Factory (no price on the page, "Book a call") and Magister. The agent tool you use has its own separate cost. No local-currency (Turkish lira) price is published.

The project is funded by paid sponsor partners called "Verified Partners" (Converly, Ploy, AIsa). PARTNERS.md lists partnership tiers of $500 and $1,500 per month; these are sponsor tiers funding the project, not user fees. According to the project's own statement, sponsorship doesn't buy recommendations and partners are clearly listed with a ◆ mark. This is a self-declaration; keep the conflict of interest in mind wherever you see a partner recommended.

Common problems and fixes

What's happeningWhat to do
After running npx skills from inside an agent, Claude Code doesn't see the skillAdd -a claude-code to the command (README).
After upgrading from v1, folders with old and new names sit side by side (like page-cro and cro)Delete the old folders using the list in the README; 17 skills were renamed in v2.0.
The /plugin command says "not available in this environment"Outside the interactive Claude Code CLI, use the shell commands.
Context file not foundThe location changed from .claude/product-marketing-context.md to .agents/product-marketing.md; the old location is still read as a fallback.

How do you uninstall Marketing Skills?

  1. With a command: the npx skills remove command from the skills CLI README.
  2. Claude Code plugin: Remove it from Claude Code's plugin panel; check the command name in the Claude Code docs.
  3. Scripts: Revoke the API key in the relevant service and delete the .env file.

Frequently asked questions

How many skills are there, and do I have to install them all?

The repository contains 50 skills. You don't have to: you can install selectively with the --skill flag.

Is it paid?

The library is free and MIT. What's paid are the author's agency and training services and the sponsor partners' own products. The training price is not on the page.

Does it access my accounts?

The skills don't. The 66 scripts connect to a service only if you provide a key through an environment variable. The README says to run a read-only test first and not to type keys into the chat.

Do sponsor partners influence the recommendations?

The project's own docs say sponsorship doesn't buy recommendations and partners are clearly marked. This is the project's own statement.

Can I use it in Claude on the web?

Each skill can be uploaded as a ZIP via Customize › Skills › Upload a skill. The ZIP doesn't install local scripts, MCP or other skills.
