What Is the Turkish Native Skill? Getting Natural Turkish from AI, Setup and Use

You give it Turkish text written by AI or a translation tool; the Turkish Native skill removes the "translated from English" feel. It rebuilds each sentence from its meaning rather than word for word: it fixes foreign sentence structures, wrong case endings, database-style language and stock marketing phrases, and leaves sentences that are already natural untouched. It carries 57 Turkish-specific patterns and 105 test cases. You install it in Claude Code as a plugin or with a command. Free and open source (MIT); a new project: first release September 12, 2026.

What does Turkish Native do?

When you have AI write Turkish text, you get sentences that are grammatically correct but read as "translated": the English sentence structure is kept, a preposition has turned into the wrong case ending, and the screen speaks the language of the database instead of the user. Turkish Native is a skill (a ready-made instruction package that tells the assistant how to do a job) aimed at this layer. It does not check the errors a spell checker catches; it checks whether the sentence is built naturally in Turkish.

Artificial / translated feelNatural Turkish
Kim açtı, kim düzenledi gör.Kimin açtığını, kimin düzenlediğini gör.
Sayfayı WhatsApp'ta gönder.Sayfayı WhatsApp'tan gönder.
Aynı işletme için tekrar kayıt oluşturulmaz.Aynı işletme ikinci kez eklenmez.
Kart istemiyoruz.Kredi kartı gerekmez.

The examples are taken verbatim from the table in the project's README. The skill also tries to avoid the opposite mistake: natural sentences that fit the context, such as Bulamazsa uydurmaz. ("If it can't find it, it doesn't make it up."), are left unchanged.

Who it helps: marketers, agencies and developers who use AI for Turkish marketing copy, website and product UI text, support content or localization. What it is not: a general spell checker, an AI detector or a professional legal review (README).

Which patterns does it check?

The skill looks for 57 Turkish-specific patterns in six groups; the details, examples and "false alarm" safeguards for each group are in the files in the references/ folder. It looks at structure first, then word choice.

PatternsGroup (README)
1–10Sentence architecture: subordinate clauses, nominalization, word order
11–20Verb choice and natural collocations
21–30Product, UI and localization
31–40Marketing and AI writing patterns
41–51Tone, fidelity to the facts and final checks
52–57Industry and page consistency: template fields left over from the wrong industry, unsupported claims

The repository has 105 test (regression) cases, including natural Turkish examples that should not be changed. These are the developer's own test set.

How do I install Turkish Native?

No account or key is needed. The commands are verbatim from the project's README.

1. Add the marketplace› /plugin marketplace add oguzhankayan/turkish-native
2. Install the plugin› /plugin install turkish-native@turkish-native

The README gives this route "for Claude Code versions with plugin support". According to the Claude Code documentation, auto-update is off by default for third-party marketplaces; you update to a new version yourself from the /plugin panel.

How do I use Turkish Native?

The two sample requests in the README are in English; you refer to the skill by the name $turkish-native. Writing the same request in Turkish works too.

Review existing text (README)"Use $turkish-native to review this Turkish copy. Flag translationese and rewrite it naturally."What you get back (as SKILL.md describes it): it briefly flags the important problems and gives the corrected version of the text; for a page review it usually uses a Section | Current | Suggested table.
Translate from English into natural Turkish (README)"Translate this into native Turkish with $turkish-native. Preserve the facts, but do not preserve English sentence structure."What you get back: Turkish text that keeps the facts, names, numbers and terms but does not carry over the English sentence order. If you ask for a legal or line-by-line translation, it keeps that fidelity.
Mode (SKILL.md)What it returns
WritingOnly the finished Turkish text; explains the rules if asked.
ReviewA short list of the important problems and the corrected text.
FileOnly prose changes; code, commands, URLs, placeholders and translation keys are preserved.
When another agent calls itOnly the requested final text.

In file mode, changes overwrite the file; keep the file under version control so you can undo them. Compare against the original to make sure names, numbers, dates and claims stayed the same.

Does it access my files or the internet?

What it reads and writes
  • Reads: the text you give it or the file you name
  • Writes: the reply; in file mode, only prose
  • No hooks, MCP server or scripts that run at install; scripts/ in the repository is only for package validation
Recorded security advisories

skills.sh audits (October 14, 2026): two audits "pass", Socket "warn" (medium; the reason is the release workflow in the repository, not the skill file). This is not a security certification.

The text you give it goes to your assistant's provider like any of your messages; for confidential client text, check your assistant's data policies.

Is Turkish Native free? Project status

Yes. The skill is MIT-licensed and free; there is no account or credit system. Whether a paid plan is needed depends not on the skill but on the assistant you run it in (a Claude subscription or API account for Claude Code).

Allowed
  • Use, modify and distribute it, including commercially (MIT)
Not allowed
  • Remove the license and copyright notice from copies
  • The software is provided "as is"; the developer gives no warranty

A new project: the repository was created on September 11, 2026, versions 0.1.0 to 0.5.0 came out on September 12–13, 2026, and the last change was on October 14, 2026; one main developer. The README describes the version as "pre-1.0": pattern names may change.

How is it different from Humanizer?

Humanizer looks at general patterns of AI writing, and its pattern list is written in English expressions. Turkish Native focuses on a narrower problem: Turkish-specific translationese, unnatural sentence construction and industry consistency at the page level. According to the README, it is not a fork of Humanizer and does not use its pattern taxonomy; only its packaging approach is inspired by it.

How do I install Turkish Native?

In Claude Code, type /plugin marketplace add oguzhankayan/turkish-native and then /plugin install turkish-native@turkish-native. The other route is the npx skills add oguzhankayan/turkish-native --global command.

What is the difference between Turkish Native and Humanizer?

Humanizer looks at general AI writing patterns. Turkish Native focuses only on Turkish-specific translationese, sentence construction and industry consistency at the page level; it is not a fork of Humanizer.

Is Turkish Native free?

Yes, it is MIT-licensed and free. Any cost depends on the plan of the assistant you run the skill in.

Does Turkish Native fix spelling mistakes too?

Spell checking is not its main job; the README states that it is not a general spell checker or an AI detector. It checks whether the sentence is built naturally in Turkish.
