What Is Higgsfield MCP? Connecting to Claude, Credit Usage, Cost and Data
You ask an assistant such as Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor for an image, video or audio in the chat; Higgsfield MCP passes the request to Higgsfield, and the results land in the Assets section of your Higgsfield account. It is Higgsfield's own remote MCP server; the address is https://mcp.higgsfield.ai/mcp, no API key is needed, and it connects through OAuth. Connecting requires an active paid subscription, and every generation made through MCP spends credits at the standard rate, whatever your plan; the Unlimited access on the website does not apply to MCP. There is no built-in credit cap.

What does Higgsfield MCP do?
MCP is the standard that lets AI programs connect to outside tools. With Higgsfield MCP you describe an image or video to your assistant in the chat; if you name a model, that model is used, otherwise the assistant picks one. According to the official help page, generation runs on your Higgsfield account, and the outputs appear in the same place as your web work, in the Assets section with an MCP label (usually within 60 seconds after the job finishes).
Every generation spends credits at the standard rate; there is no built-in credit cap.
What it can do: image and video generation, using a character you trained or reusable references (character, location, object) in generation, upscaling images, removing backgrounds, extending images, voiceover and dubbing, and, on the agent side, designing and publishing websites (the Website Building skill; not available in ChatGPT).
Who it helps: people who already have a Higgsfield subscription and want to manage generation from inside an assistant. Without a subscription, you need to buy a plan first to connect.
How do you connect Higgsfield MCP?
Prerequisites: an active paid Higgsfield subscription and a Higgsfield account. The path depends on which assistant you use; in some you don't paste an address.
- In claude.ai or Claude Desktop, open Settings then Connectors.
- Click Add custom connector; enter Higgsfield as the name and paste
https://mcp.higgsfield.ai/mcpas the address. - Click Connect; in the window that opens, sign in with your Higgsfield account and grant permission.
You don't paste an address: in ChatGPT you add the official Higgsfield plugin from the Plugins Directory or from the higgsfield.ai/mcp page, then sign in with your account and grant permission. The ChatGPT plugin has no audio generation and no Website Building skill.
In Cursor, find Higgsfield under Customize then Marketplace, click Add and sign in with your Higgsfield account.
These three agents use the Higgsfield CLI rather than the MCP address; the agent installs the CLI itself. The three steps contained in the prompt on the official page:
› npm i -g @higgsfield/cli› higgsfield auth login› npx skills add higgsfield-ai/skills!This path runs code on your computer (a global npm package and a skill package). Review these commands yourself before letting the agent install them.
To check that it works, ask "What is my Higgsfield credit balance?" in a new chat. The assistant should call the Higgsfield tools and return your account data; if it answers without calling a tool, check the connector list and reconnect.
How do you use Higgsfield MCP?
Since every generation spends credits, it's a good habit to have the assistant state the cost first. The generation cost is also shown on Higgsfield's Generate button.
The assistant can't read an image you attach to the chat; you have it open the upload window, and the file uploads directly to your account. For an image from the web, paste the direct image address.
Which apps does Higgsfield MCP work in?
| Claude (claude.ai and Claude Desktop)Yes | The address is added as a custom connector. |
|---|---|
| ChatGPTPartly | Official plugin available; no audio generation and no Website Building. |
| CursorYes | Through Customize then Marketplace. |
| Claude Code, OpenClaw, HermesYes | Through the Higgsfield CLI, not MCP. |
| Other MCP clientsUnclear | The same address can be used; a third-party client is subject to its own terms. |
The help page does not say whether Higgsfield is listed in Claude's connector directory.
What Higgsfield MCP accesses: data and rights
Your credit balance, generation history, uploads, and the characters and references in your account.
Generates images, video and audio and saves them to Assets in your account. Files you upload go to your account. Every generation deducts credits.
The help page lists no delete tool or delete operation; it lists reading, generation and uploading.
The prompts and images you give for generation go to your Higgsfield account. According to the privacy policy, your inputs, outputs and prompts may be used to train and improve Higgsfield's AI models (not under Enterprise contracts); you can stop this going forward by deleting the content or the account.
According to the terms of service, Higgsfield does not claim ownership of outputs and does not restrict commercial use; the rights continue after you cancel your subscription. Using outputs to develop a competing AI model is prohibited. Because MCP counts as programmatic access, it falls under the developer terms: you are responsible for every action the agent takes with your account and every output it produces; a third-party client is subject to its own privacy policy.
!The product is a closed-source remote service; this guide gives no security verdict on the CLI package (@higgsfield/cli). Higgsfield publishes a separate troubleshooting article for generations blocked for copyright or content-policy reasons; check it if you run into a block.
Is Higgsfield MCP free? How are credits spent?
No. The official connection page requires an active paid subscription. On top of that, in the help page's own words, every generation made through MCP spends credits whatever the plan: the website's Unlimited model access and plan-included free generations do not apply to MCP, the CLI or other automated tools. If you want to generate without spending credits, generate on the website.
| Topic | According to the official page |
|---|---|
| Subscription credits | Reset every billing cycle and don't roll over; spending order: subscription credits first, then the credits closest to expiring. |
| Credit packs and auto top-up | Valid for 90 days from purchase. |
| Failed generation | Credits are usually refunded automatically; some models may not refund. |
| Batch generation (2-4 outputs) | Each output is charged separately. |
| Spending cap | There is no built-in cap. Saying "don't exceed X credits" is only a prompt-level instruction, not a hard limit. |
Plan prices and monthly credit amounts appear only on the pricing page; the help center gives no amounts. You can see your current plan and remaining credits in your Higgsfield account under Manage Account › Subscription. No price in Turkish lira is listed.
Source: Higgsfield Help Center. The help center also mentions credit-free generation with a limited set of models without a subscription; it does not say whether this applies to MCP. Refund terms (help center): within 7 days of the first purchase and only if no credits were used, with a service fee of up to 6%; renewals are not refunded. This is not legal advice.
Common problems and fixes
| What happens | What to do |
|---|---|
| "Authorization with the MCP server failed." | The authorization has expired. In Claude, go to Settings then Connectors then Higgsfield then Disconnect, then reconnect. In ChatGPT, reconnect from Settings then Plugins then Higgsfield. |
| The connector looks connected but the assistant doesn't call the tools | Open a new chat and mention Higgsfield explicitly; in some interfaces the connector also has to be enabled for that chat. |
| "MCP HTTP exchange failed" (Cursor and others) | It may be a temporary connection error; retry the request, and if it persists, disconnect and reconnect the MCP server. |
| The generation doesn't appear in Assets | Wait up to 60 seconds; then confirm under Manage Account › Usage that the job ran. If credits were deducted and there is no output, contact support with the generation ID and time. |
| MCP deducted credits on a model you have Unlimited access to | Not a bug, expected behavior: Unlimited and free generation apply only on higgsfield.ai. |
How do you disconnect Higgsfield MCP?
- In Claude: Settings then Connectors then Higgsfield then Disconnect.
- In ChatGPT: Settings then Plugins then Higgsfield.
- In agents that use the CLI: Sign out of the Higgsfield CLI.
- To stop spending, cancel the subscription: Avatar › Manage Account › Subscription › Plan Settings then Manage Subscription then Cancel Subscription. Cancelling turns off auto-renewal, access continues until the end of the paid period, and your account and generations are not deleted.
Frequently asked questions
