On the evening of October 6, at Advertising Week in New York, Meta announced four things at once, and the headlines squeezed them all into a single paragraph. I'd rather read them separately, because the four don't carry the same weight. Two could be useful in your account this week, one matters if you do e-commerce, and one is still at the "we're testing it" stage.
What was announced: generative video from static images, AI-powered audience discovery, an expanded Ads Creative Studio, and checkout without leaving the chat in Messenger, Instagram DMs, and WhatsApp. Below, I go through what each one means for a small business, with notes on Turkey where it matters. First, the short version.
Quick answer: On October 6, 2026, Meta announced that it has made video generation from static images generally available within Advantage+, rolled Ads Creative Studio out to more advertisers, and introduced in-chat checkout through Business Agent. If you manage your ads on Meta, the first two matter now; in-chat checkout only matters if you have a Shopify or Meta catalog connection, and only once it opens in your country. The job for this week: pick your best-performing static image and put its video variant into a test set.
What happened?
The details of the announcement come from the October 6 reports by Social Media Today and Common Thread Co; no text about it had been published on Meta's own newsroom that day. So everything below comes from secondary sources, labeled [B] and [C]. I'll recheck the numbers once Meta publishes its announcement.
In order:
Generative video. According to the reports, generating video from existing static assets within Advantage+ creative is now generally available. In Ads Creative Studio, you can generate new video concepts and variations and edit the hook, audio, clip length, text overlays, captions, and end screen. Generating video from catalog listings has also been made easier.
Ads Creative Studio expands. Until now it was limited to select partners; it's opening to more advertisers. Brand Memory (the system that learns a brand's colors, logo, and tone of voice), announced at Cannes in June, is part of this system.
AI-powered audience discovery. It works with Advantage+ Audience and builds new audiences from the behavior patterns of people who convert. The goal is for it to replace the fixed interest layer.
In-chat checkout. Products are presented and payment is collected through Meta Business Agent. According to the reports, it removes up to four manual steps from the standard purchase flow. In Messenger it works with Shopify products; for Meta AI, a similar flow is being tested with Adyen, PayPal, Shopify, and Stripe.
On top of that, the Business AI assistant is getting more context memory and "agentic" capabilities (making targeting and budget changes through chat), and the Meta Ads MCP server has been expanded. Most of these are described as "in testing."
Why does it matter?
When production costs approach zero, the bottleneck shifts from production to selection. You no longer need to build a team to make video, but you're the one who decides what gets produced. I think this is where the real risk lies: once everyone has the same tool, hundreds of ads with the same hook, the same transitions, and the same captions will flood the feed. This time, differentiation isn't in the tool; it's in the brief.
The second issue is measurement. A purchase completed inside a chat never touches your site pixel. Meta sees it on its side; whether you see it depends on your setup. I wouldn't commit a big budget this week without testing that.
The third is the legal framework. According to Common Thread Co, the version of the updated Commercial Terms and self-serve ad terms that covers usage rights for AI-generated creative takes effect on October 30 [C]. This date appears in only one source. Until Meta confirms it, read it as "likely." For agencies managing ad accounts on behalf of clients, reading the contract is the most boring job of the week, but also the most valuable.
One thing is still unknown: when in-chat checkout will open in Turkey, and with which payment providers, isn't clear. I'm not going to speculate.
What changes for your brand?
Small e-commerce, on Shopify. The checkout flow will matter most to you, but in Turkey there's nothing to prepare until it actually arrives there. Catalog quality and clean product images will pay off whichever flow comes.
Service business, Meta lead ads. Checkout doesn't concern you; video generation and Creative Studio do. If you don't have a product, the video's hook should show the result of the service, not a storefront.
Agency or freelancer. The terms change and using generative creative on a client's behalf. Don't turn on generative video without informing the client in writing.
Large budget. Test audience discovery side by side with your current Advantage+ audience setup, in a separate campaign cell. Deleting the interest layer overnight isn't smart.

Can you use Meta's generative video tool in Turkey?
Advantage+ creative is generally rolling out to accounts gradually. Check your creative settings to see whether it appears in your account; no separate restriction for Turkey has been announced.
When will in-chat checkout come to Turkey?
It's not clear. Right now the reports mention stores with Shopify and Meta catalog connections, and there's no country list. I'm not going to guess at a date.
Do I need to label ads generated with AI?
This announcement doesn't include a labeling rule. The safest route is to read the terms taking effect on October 30 and get a written agreement with the client.
Meta pushed the effective date of its new commercial terms from October 30 to November 20, 2026; as far as press reports show, the liability clause on AI features remains unchanged.
I walk through advertising on Instagram, from the Boost button to Ads Manager: what you need, how to calculate a budget, how long ad review takes, and what not to touch in the first two weeks.
September 27, 2026: Starting October 1, Meta charges for replies within the 24-hour window on the WhatsApp Business API after 1,000 messages per number per month. In Turkey the cost is small; the real risk is replies not being delivered on accounts with no payment method.
