20 graphic design styles (and which one fits your business)

20 styles, from minimalism to handwritten: which one is yours, and which one suits your industry?

Short answer

20 graphic design styles in one list: minimalism, maximalism, futuristic, vector, collage, retro, cyberpunk, pop art, glass effect, clay, pixel, editorial, Y2K, Swiss, surreal, bohemian, Victorian, graffiti, aurora and handwritten. None of them is the best on its own; what matters is choosing one that fits the business and sticking with it for at least 9 posts. The DijiKoçum PDF gives a ready-made image prompt in a 3:4 ratio for each style, plus recommended styles and styles to avoid for 12 industries.

  1. Get to know the 20 styles.

Minimalism, maximalism, futuristic, vector, collage, retro, cyberpunk, pop art, glass effect, clay, pixel, editorial, Y2K, Swiss, surreal, bohemian, Victorian, graffiti, aurora and handwritten. For example, minimalism means few elements and plenty of white space, while Swiss design means a grid and bold sans-serif type; the PDF has a one-line definition of each style.

  2. Don't choose sight unseen: generate it once.

Try the prompt for the style you're curious about once in ChatGPT image generation, Gemini or Midjourney. Fill in the square brackets with your own details; the ratio is 3:4, i.e. 1080 × 1440. A ready-made retro example for a café:

Instagram post for [CAFE NAME] in the style of a retro '70s poster,
warm cream background, nested orange, brown and mustard arcs,
an illustration of [PRODUCT] in the center, '[SHORT HEADLINE]'
in rounded bold type, subtle paper texture, 3:4 portrait
  3. Pick the one that suits your industry.

Retro or handwritten styles feel warm for a café, while cyberpunk makes food look cold. The PDF lists two recommended styles and one style to stay away from for each of 12 industries.

  4. Add the details afterward.

Don't have the AI write details like prices, address or opening hours; it often garbles letters and Turkish characters. Generate the image with a short headline, then add the details yourself in Canva or your phone's editor; keep the product and the place real, and let the style be just the frame.

  5. Don't change it for 9 posts.

Keep the style you chose for at least 9 posts. Save the prompt that worked somewhere; in the following posts, only [PRODUCT] and [HEADLINE] should change.

How to measure it

After 9 posts, look at your profile grid: if the posts look like they came from the same hand, the style is doing its job. If it looks scattered, simplify your color and type decisions around a single style.

Frequently asked questions

Which design style should I choose for my business?

It depends on your industry and the feeling you want to give your customers. For example, retro and handwritten styles feel warm for a café, while cyberpunk makes food look cold; before choosing, generate the prompt for a candidate style once and see the result.

Can I have the AI write prices and the address on the image?

Not recommended; AI often garbles letters and Turkish characters. Generate the image with no text or with a short headline, then add the details yourself in Canva or your phone's editor.
